I am trying to refamiliarize myself with PSE before Saturday ... and it's changed quite a bit since I last used it ... I use CS3 ... here is a screen shot of what I can do with text (spacing between characters) ... and am curious if you can do this in PSE.

Not with PSE7.

At least not with text.

If however, you are using graphic alphas, there is the capability to use to line up the individual layers (letters) and use "distribute". Depending on the situation, you can do "top", "bottom", "left" or "right" edges, and also "vertical" or "horizontal" centers. I think the last one (horizontal centers) will do what you want, depending on how big the graphics are on the layout.

I just found that feature the other day ... had totally forgotten about it. Jeesh what a useful feature!!

Actually I am using a font ... and PSE8 ... wanting to space the characters further apart.

Kerning allows you to manually adjust the space between any two characters. Tracking allows the user to apply a form of universal spacing between all characters. (And line spacing is referred to as Leading).

I haven't figured out if I can do it in PSE8 yet, since I just recently got it and haven't really played around with it. I know you can do it in older versions of Photoshop (before Elements and CS), since I can do it with PS7 (which is why I haven't deleted it off my HD yet. lol).

I'm curious if anyone has figured this out yet ... I didn't realize just how much I use this feature until I tried scrapping in PSE 8 this week!
