for dh. it will be 12 years and let's just say that last year was the worst ann./day we have had in our marriage and leave it at that. so this year i am not going all out and i am sorta guarding my heart and not putting it all out there. i have thought about a music cd and card, chocolates (he likes the expensive kind), just a letter letting him know that i still love him, but that is about it. what other ideas can you gals help me out with?

DH and I don't do gifts on our anniversary. We usually take the money we would spend, find a hotel in the city, and ditch the kids with the ILs. We go out to dinner, go downtown. I like the alone time with him, and we really only do this once a year. So I'm useless to help!

We don't do anniversary gifts either ours is Dec. 29th so it's right after Christmas...we usually just go out to eat and have a date night.

I did get him an itunes gift card for his birthday which was a big hit. :)

We're in the no gifting crowd as well.

Just spending time together (without the kids) and exchange cards, sometimes handmade, sometimes store bought is about the extent of it.

We don't do big things, just spend time together... I make dinner of his favorites and he will buy me flowers, but that is about it. This last anniversary which was our 5 year, kiddo threw up just before we were going to go out... so plans were changed and we ended up ordering Chinese and switching posts on eating and holding kiddo.

If you are looking for a fun/light-hearted gift... I made this "idaddy" (just a covered composition book) for hubby's birthday... he got a real kick out of it because he had been asking for an ipad....

Rebecca thats super cute!

No hubby but when I was married we didn't do much. Spent time together and thats about it. We took a cruise out of Galveston TX for our honeymoon so we got a room in galveston and just messed around there.

I'm not technically married but my boyfriend and I don't really celebrate any kind of anniversary (aka first date, first kiss, etc etc). However, I think with the economy today most people are opting for special, home-made, or "from the heart" items. I think that makes them worth more to the receiver! Just my 2 cents. Hope your anniversary is better than last year.

Im sorry you had a bad anniversary before (I've had those too)...try not to let that one ruin the rest. How about in additon to the card, maybe a little extra something like the chocolates or even a gift card to one of his favorite places - or talk about it and spend the money and go to dinner and a movie?

I was terribly hurt on our 10 year anniversary, but DH made up for it and I eventually forgave him. Sometimes they just dont think

our anniv is New Year's Eve (which I think is the only reason DH even remembers..not even sure he remembers getting married ;)) anyways we don't exchange gifts either (my bday, Chrstimas, and anniv are all w/in 2 and 1/2 weeks of each other)

Hope y'all have a great day and that you just reflect on what led y'all to fall in love in the first place. Laugh and just spend the day together. Time with our spouses esp in these busy times is so cherished
