I was thinking about how scrapbooking sometimes influences me to try new things and I think that is good. Back when I was a paper scrapper I decided that I wanted to learn to eat with chopsticks so I asked my dad to teach me and then I made a page about it. I also took a cake decorating class with a group of mothers and daughters (older). Not exactly my cup of tea, but I'm glad to have somewhat learned the skill and even when I wasn't enjoying it I was taking photos like crazy to scrapbook it.
So has scrapbooking influenced you to try new things or visit new places? I'd love to hear your experiences. Please share.

I was wanting to get my pic taken with my sister (hadn't had any since childhood) ... found out that the Indian Mission was teaching basket making ... and figured it might be fun to have the two of us make baskets and take pictures ... so paid for her basket as an early birthday present ... and not only had fun, but got some fun pics of us!
Also going to a scrapbooking weekend retreat got me to try my first massage ... oh so glad I did it!

I have gone places lots of times to get pictures to scrap with. Its a win/win, you get the fun times and then pictures for later.

I can't think of anything right away that I did for the first time because of scrapbooking, although there probably have been. I definitely get out and do more things because I want to have the memories to record in my albums.

P365 has pushed me out of the house to do things, for sure! Must get that photo of the day!!! ;)
Yes... many times I see a kit that I want to use, but don't have photos for... like flying a kit this year. I haven't flown a kite since I was 8 years old... and that is the same for my hubby, so I bought a cheap one this year to get photos of my son and daddy flying a kit. My hubby (who was skeptical about this) really had a lot of fun and it was a great bonding for father/son... and I got awesome photos!

I take more pictures now, because of scrapbooking. I always took tons, but now I take more, just because I know I can tell a story with them, so I don't wanna miss any story, anytime. And because of that I got a new camera for Christmas, and I'm trying to learn use it better, because I like when I have pretty pictures in my scraps.

I try to do different things rather than always having photos around the house or around one activity. Unfortunately, I miss alot of my daughter's activities during the week due to me being at work. I try to make that up on the weekend or whenever I can get to an event so sometimes I'll schedule activities just to get pictures. It doesn't always work out, for example, we went to play mini golf and I decided to try out a new camera we got at a yard sale that day. Well, the pictures turned out awful...I think I got 2-3 good ones but we are planning to go back and try again when it cools off some.

I have actually staged photos in order to buy certain kits! LOL

I don't know that it has inspired me to try new things, but it has made me more conscious of upholding traditions (like apple picking in the fall) and more willing to make the effort to do fun things with the kids. Going to the playground is a good example--I know I should take them because they love it, but I don't enjoy it and it's a hassle to keep both of the younger kids safe on the equipment. But if I take my camera along I enjoy it a lot more. I usually don't get great photos because I'm too busy chasing the kids, but it's still fun to try and sometimes I succeed.

I made hubby go camping with me 10 years ago so I would have photos to use with pack of camping stickers I got from Creative Memories! LOL!!:p

Well, I'm definitely more interested in photography, now. And my picture taking has improved significantly. Now if only I could spend big bucks on a really sweet camera. :)

It hasn't really gotten me to try anything new, but it does inspire me to take photos of the everyday & write about stuff that's 'normal' for us.

Not really. I do things to enjoy them, not to scrapbook them... Sometimes I take photos with a kit in mind, but I'd probably make those photos anyway even if I didn't digi-scrap. I don't even take more photos on account of scrapbooking.
But I do see kits everywhere when I walk about, that's true! Last week a colleague had a top that would have been perfect for Libby's We've Only Just Begun, still, I didn't take a photo of her on account of that. But I couldn't let my eyes of that top, I admit. :-)
