I really don't want to be typing this but I am needing to take a bit of a break from the forums & digi scrapping while I wait for some much needed eye tests at the public hospital & most likely a pair or two of new glasses (I would do it at an optometrist but I need the ophthalmologist specialist to do it because I only have sight in one eye). I am hoping I am still in the system and can get an appointment asap but I have a feeling I have been away to long so will have to get a referral from my doctor again when I see him on Monday. Right now I can barely do school work & my paid work on the computer let alone any forum browsing or digi scrapping - last night I had a headache and dizziness for 3 full hours at work - not good when you are working on computers.

I will be back as soon as I can & hope that it is within the next couple of months before I start studying full time again in October.:(:(:(

Thanks - its just frustrating not being able to do much right now especially as I am waiting for welfare payments so have to keep working until they are approved.

I hope so too - I am going to ring them up on Monday before I see my doctor to see if I can just go straight to them because all I need is a test & a prescription then I can go and get new glasses.

they aren't fun at all especially when you have to work through them on the busiest night of the week - luckily my shift last night was only 3 hours long and not the 7 hour one I called in sick for today.

oh yikes! i hoep you can get new glasses asap. You really should get your eyes examined and a new script written every 2 years, if not more frequently. I;ve got bad eye problems and by keeping on top of it you can prevent worse things from happening! best of luck to you

I have to get new glasses every other year, my eyes change so much from year to year even, I just can't afford to buy new ones every year. I would say you'll need a new prescription by now. I hope they see you soon, and get you sorted out asap!

Oh, no! (((HUGS))) I'm so sorry :( I know exactly the feeling. Eye issues since my childhood. :thumbdown: I'm always getting new prescriptions and feeling headaches b/c I can't afford new glasses every year... In fact I did some sort of exercises for my eyes once (don't ask me how, but it's true: eye workouts) and it not worked for me. The problem is so big that one of my eyes is literally getting shorter than the other. So much that everyone can see now. :unsure:

I hope so too but with the speed of the public hospital system I am not terribly hopeful. In some ways I wish I could just go to an optometrist & be seen there but am likely to get the wrong prescription if I do it that way.

Some good news came yesterday after I went to the optometrist - I have 2 pairs of new glasses being made as I type so I should get them in about 2 weeks. For $283NZD ($205USD) I got 2 pairs of glasses, 1 with an anti glare coating on them & the other with a sun tint & UV filter on them. These are what I got in Silver

nope not at this stage as the optometrist was able to test my eyes absolutely fine which shows how much technology has changed in the last few years. I will still get a referral to the ophthalmologist when I can but it is not top priority now that I have the glasses on order.

Just picked up my glasses today & noticed such an improvement - still a little headache but not nearly as much as before (though the headache could be because of feeling under the weather anyway)

Thanks Robin - they will certainly be appreciated by not just me but my work too. Luckily it has been reasonably quiet so I have been able to go home early or take extra breaks when needed.
