are coming to my house soon!! I'm not sure whether to be excited or terrified, lol!

I live in a really old house that's been added onto twice (the original part was built in the 40's if not earlier). It needs major work, which is okay because we bought it for $23,500 (cheaper than our car!!). We did a couple rooms so far (kitchen & bathroom were gutted and redone, nursery made, master bedroom was done, but we're re-doing it, and the spare room), but we've been in here for 5 years, and I am just SICK of my dumpy little house and all the dark paneled walls! It has great potential though, so I've put my foot down and told DH that we are just going to do it already, lol.

First up is windows! Ours are so old and they should have been done before we even moved in, but they are pricey, so we've put it off. Last year, 3 of my windows became so rotted, we can't close them anymore. And 3 weeks ago my bathroom window rotted away enough that the bottom of the frame fell off and now the glass has slid about 2 inches out the bottom, lol. Needless to say, new windows have been ordered!

Next is the furnace & ductwork. Then the laundry room/pantry/half bath (I'm getting front load washer/dryer and putting a countertop across them & nice cabinets). Then the living room, including new furniture, a built in entertainment center/cabinet & carpeting. Then our bedroom re-do. A new fence (ours blew down in some strong winds). After that, a new deck in the back, and a small porch in the front. We might re-do the driveway as well because it's all crumbling.

Oy. I think I am terrified after all!!!

The house we live in was pretty much gutted and renovated after we bought it but before we moved in..was a labor of love and soooo worth it! Good luck and have fun!

yes, show us before/after photos!

My hubby is so handy...he's a SAHD currently, but as the kids are getting ready to go to school, we're thinking about whether or not we should buy/flip a house or just buy one as a rental property.

Let us know how its going!!

I've got JUST the house Beckie- seriously! If I could rent it out I would... and it needs no repairs.... Gotta sell it this month so I could give you a great deal! http://www.austinhomesearch.com/Search/Details.aspx?li=167462&or=1&cp=2

Sorry to hijack! I want to see pics of this big undertaking! :)

Well it starts in the beginning of September! We aren't doing it all at once, because I want DH to finish one project before tackling the next, lol!!

I will definitely be posting before/afters while all the work is in progress!

Good luck! We've been working ours for 2 months now. We torn out the kitchen, most of the bathroom, and did tons of electrical work. We still need to get new windows, and a few other things. But we should be in soon. We'll have to do the half bath at some point and fix up the finished basement with new carpet and paint.
