I just signed up for my first 5K!
Here's a link:

My girlfriend, her boyfriend, and her boyfriends sister are all running the half marathon that day too. I've never run in a race like this before, so I'm excited/anxious/scared, lol. I literally JUST started running again this week after taking a break to try and heal my shin splints. I got the Chi Running book today, and I'm excited to see how I can change my techniques and help myself.
7 weeks to go! Wish me luck!

Good luck! I just ran my first a couple of weeks ago, and did better than I thought. I was really scared because the most I had run while training was 2.5 miles in 30 minutes (doing C25K so I was walking too), so running the K and challenging myself to keep running made it so fun and exhilerating! You'll be amazing after training for 7 weeks! Good luck!

Good luck! :)
There is a 5K run over here for cancer research every year, and I'm going to sign up for it in 2011, I was too late this year!

Good luck! You will have a blast! My hubby and I have each run a few half marathons (and 5k's & 10k's) and I just love the whole race day atmosphere. It makes all the training totally worth it.

Thanks so much ladies! I'm still kinda nervous just thinking about it, but I know I've got lots of time to train and I'll do just fine :)
Jamie, I was reading the foreward and was SO EXCITED because it mentioned something that I had been thinking in my head on my run the day before. I can't wait to get to the meat of the book about technique and stuff.

Kathi - you should check out the Apple Hill Harvest Run - it's in November and it's a fun run! (a bit hilly but definitely worth it!)

I'm gonna make DH go down and sit at the finish line for sure :)
As if I needed any more motivation to keep doing what I'm doing, I just bought new jeans in a size smaller! I'm SO excited!! Training for this 5k will totally help me keep losing AND keep the pounds off for the new jeans. So, so excited.

You're gonna be hooked. :)
Race day excitement and the feeling of crossing that finish line (no matter the distance) is just something you can't duplicate.
I SOBBED today when I crossed, and it was my 4th half marathon this year. It's just so exciting/hard/emotional. I love it. :)
