My mother tortured me as a child...thank you VH1. lol
Honestly though I don't knock my mother or father for making me listen to different music growing up, I have a VERY eclectic taste for music. Everything from classical & Big Band with Glenn Miller to Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Zombie.
I guess that could be my interesting fact. lol

I have an unnatural (and probably unhealthy) love of 80's music, especially the cheesy, sappy ballads. But part of the reason is because 4 years ago I had a Cochlear Implant, due to progressive hearing loss. I've done amazingly well, but music sounds so different now. So I mostly listen to the music from that era, because I can remember what it sounds like. I'm super sensitive about wearing the cochlear so most people don't even know that I'm deaf. Since the loss was progressive, my speech is completely normal and I can read lips like you wouldn't believe...lol.

Facts about me: I was born on my mum's birthday.
My dad committed suicide in June last year.
I was never a cat person, until my bf and I got our two babies.
I would love to live in Brooklyn... purely based on the amount of thrift stores.
My first kiss was to a boy that later became my cousin :S - His auntie and my uncle got married a year later (and the divorced 3 years and 2 kids later).

Ebony - that is tough stuff for anyone, particularly a young chick like yourself. One piece of advice - don't let it define you. You are a nifty chick with a great attitude and have a lot to offer life, your dad's suicide will be part of your story but it shouldn't define your story.

Well I used to be quite the happening chic...snuck into MTV Awards when I was 19 years old and bumped into Anthony Keidis (RHCP) and all I managed to say was, " Can I have a hug?" and got one. Best day of my life. Met a bunch of artists that night and partied with Lars from Metallica. Yah, it was fun. Umm, I have met Prince at a private party @ HOB in Hollywood. I thought he loved me but uh, turns out I was just dreaming because he welcomed us in the club but than he hung out in private room the entire time. And he is small, like tiny. Fought with Bud Bundy, I don't remember his real name, once at a club in Hollywood and he was a complete jerk. I did a lot of crazy stuff and wonder how I survived it all. I had fun though and would not change it for the world.

I don't know if it is interesting or not........I am a preacher's kid, I have 6 kids (4 adopted, 2 step daughter ranging in age from 20 to 5 years old), I have 2 grand daughters (a 1 year old and a 6 month old) and I am only 33 years old. Our family get togethers get some strange looks. :) That is about as interesting as it gets. Man, I need to go do something exciting so I will have a better answer next time! LOL

i've always had an anxiety disorder, but it's MUCH worse since a car accident in 2006, mainly with driving.
car accident mentioned above happened when i was 6wks pregnant with my 2nd son...pregnant and on crutches with a broken pelvis...fantastic ;)

My cabbage patch kid almost killed me.
Seriously. I had a water bed and the doll slipped under the bed and got caught in the heater. She melted the plastic because she caught on fire, and water started dripping into the electrical system. I was being electrocuted to death, and my mom heard me whimpering and came to save me.
That is soooooooo scary!!! WOW!

That is soooooooo scary!!! WOW!
It's definitely scary to think about, but I don't remember much (since I was asleep and all...) I just remember my mom waking me up and the panic that ensued, and I also remember when the company came and replaced the bed... I saved the frame for quite some time, but they gave me a non-water bed mattress, and now I'm terrified of water beds and never ever ever ever want one again.

I know, most of you with think this is so boring. However, I love music. I play the piano, flute and my favorite instrument, the violin. I hope to audition for a local symphony in a year or two. If I didn't love music so much I would probably scrap all the time!

hmmm, interesting facts about me...
I can't rollerskate or ski.
I can play a little piano.
I'm addicted to gaming (Farmville, Wizard 101 etc).
I hate raw onions.
I've never been outside of the U.S.
I was dumped when I was 4 months pregnant! :cursing:
OHH and I'll be 40 next year!
I thought of 1 more thing (LOL)...I was almost kidnapped when I was about 1 or 2 years old. It was in Atlantic City NJ on the boardwalk (where most of the casinos are now) and this lady was dragging me out of a store when my mom turned around just in time! That's how my mom tells it anyway.
All for now.

Wow ... that is actually fascinating! I never got good enough at the piano to inspire me to continue. Two of my boys are taking lessons on electric guitar but neither has any inspiration to do something really WITH the music...it's just for their enjoyment.

My mum and her best friend came out to Australia together, lived together, then still lived together after they each got married - two couple in the one house. After kids came along - 4 in total - we all lived together, but my mum's friend stayed home while the other 3 adults went to work. We call my mum's best friend "Mum" and my (birth) mum - Aunt. All of us do. They had a deal. My(birth)mum would have me but she would return to work and "mum". "Mum" adopted two son's and my Aunt had my sister. As afar as we were concerned we were all brothers and sisters. It got very confusing when we started school back in the early 70's. Is that intetesting enough?
How about I met my husband the first year we started school in 1974? There fore I have know him for 36 of the 41years I have been alilve.

Oh and some people think its weird that I'm afraid of birds.
I am totally with you on this one!!! They really creep me out. I like them ok, when they're in a cage, like the canaries my mama used to have, but I hate going into pet stores that let those really big colorful birds just hang around without being caged. Some are pretty, I'll admit that, but don't ever let one get close to me, or I freak out!!

Hmmm... in no particular order:
1. I hate tomatoes. But I love ketchup or tomato soup :)
2. My husband is my first love
3. I have played piano since I was 9. I love playing especially 20's and 30's tunes (swing, boogie-woogie, jazz etc.)
4. I have spent definitely more than 1000 USD (being afraid to known the exact number) since I joined SweetShoppe a year ago.
5. I love Celtic, Irish, Folk and Worship music. I own more than 300 original CDs because I hate copies :)
6. I can do HTML & PHP programming :) - so a bit geek, eh?
Maybe this could make into a great portfolio challenge!

Dunno what might interesting.
I don't have a driving licence, nor do I wish to. Nobody deserves me on the road.
I couldn't ride a bike until I was 32, and, let's face it, I'm still no star at it.
I used to write Harry Potter fanfiction.
I'd be pretty much grey-haired if I didn't colour my hair. It's in the family.
I'm not addicted to chocolate. We do exist.
I never wanted to leave my home country (it would be a long story how it happened), but now there's no way now I'd want to return.

I've gone to state for Forensics (drama) high school 3 years in a row and always missed gold by one lousy point!
I was on our school's FFA debate team... don't remember it at all, but have a plaque to prove it! LOL!
I was on the pom pon team for a year.
I started college in paper science (think chemical engineer for the paper industry)... switched majors 4 times and still graduated in 4 1/2 years with a major in Communication and 2 credits short of a double major with Computers.
I'm terrified of the police.

I've thought of like ten different things while I was reading this thread, and now I can't remember any of them.
I am terrified of dying. When I am in the car I have to talk to myself to keep from having panic attacks when another car gets close to me. I hate to fly, but I live on an island, so I fly a lot. Every time I have to talk myself out of freaking out whenever the plane takes off or hits a bump.
I am obsessed with Malcom Gladwell and try to get peope to read his books all the time.
I want to be a better person but I don't actually want to put the effort into becoming a better person.
I want to move back to the States just so I can be a foster parent. I am obsessed with adopting and wish it wasn't so expensive so that I could do it more than once.
When I was a kid, I never wanted to grow up and have a job. I always wanted to be a SAHM. I would eat beans and rice before I would go back to teaching.
I daydream about what I'm going to say on my Oprah interview.

I'm not a huge fan of chocolate, but LOVE brownies.
I've never dated anyone close to my age (always at least 3 years older)& I'm still friends with all of them.
My DH is 17 years older than me.
I competed on the FFA debate team & I highly dislike arguing.
I've showed sheep, pigs in livestock shows & trained a horse.
Love music & can remember most lyrics very soon after hearing a song, my DH thinks there isn't a song I don't know. 80's are my faves.

What a fun thread!!
Let's see, what can I add......
I'm a bridge engineer.
I never in a MILLION years thought I would want to be a SAHM, and now it's almost all I can think about. The baby fever is killing me! Lol!
I sucked my thumb until I was 11 or 12. :o I really hope my kids take to pacifiers so they don't go through what I did.
Sarah8914
09-07-2010, 09:48 AM
I used to want 6-8 kids (ha, hahahah)
Now I wonder if I will even make it to 5.
My girls are the only granddaughters on my side. 3 of my siblings only have boys!
I sang God Bless America (with a backup choir) this summer. I was as nervous as could be but really loved doing it. It made me want to do it more. And I still don't know why they picked me.
If I thought I could homeschool, I would. It's too hard for me with little, little ones. They take a lot out of me and I need some quiet moments during the day. Maybe when they're all older.
I have a teaching degree but never want to teach.
and I'm sure there's a lot more, but that's all I can think of right now.

I do this when i barf too... like since i was a kid. My mom use to stand over me and yell @ me & tell me to "pull up the boot straps" and deal with it..... which of course, just made it worse.. and probably helped ingrain the panic reaction through adulthood :p

Some things about me
- I almost drowned when I was about 4 years old. A (mentally retarded) boy pushed me off a dock into a lake and a 14 year old girl saved my life [the lifeguards were all out trying to catch a snake someone had seen].
- I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane.
- I have no cousins. My father's brother and my mother's sister are both gay.
- I met the band AC/DC in a sushi bar in Jacksonville, FL.
Recently diagnosed with diabetes. I was told I'd be on medicine the rest of my life, there was no hope of controlling it, and had a reading of 269 and a1c of 8.7 when it was caught.
I got mad and switched doctors.
Now in 4 weeks I've lost 12 pounds, drastically changed my diet, and never took the meds. Reading 96-114 in the mornings and 108-136 after meals (depending on what I eat) and working hard to get that even lower.
So take that and shove it former Dr. office.
Stubbornness can be a good thing sometimes.
At first it rocked my world in a very bad way. Now I'm thankful for having it because it forces me to take care of myself.
I am terrified of dying.

Ok remind me NEVER EVER to eat at your house...I have a few food allergies ... and those items I was NEVER tested for (hmmm allergist didn't have a scratch test for crickets!) ... ewwwwwwwwwww

Hmmm, I don't have much interesting to tell, but I;ll try!
~ My knees hyper-extend, meaning I can bend them backwards. Kind of gross actually.
~ I wanted to be a ballerina when I was little, but I can't dance for anything
~ I'm 27 and don't have my driver's license. The only reason I've never taken the test is because I'm afraid of failing. Sigh.
~ I have been estranged from my sister for an entire year (at the end of August), and I just finally cried about it the other day. Man, I'm missing her like crazy (probably because I'm pregnant, and I don't know when she'll ever see/meet her new nephew or neice).

Ok let me see...
I played softball from the age of 6 until I graduated high school...I could've gotten a scholarship but I was burned out on softball my then...It also wasn't as popular as it is now...If only I would've known :)
I'm absolutely addicted to romance novels...who doesn't love a happy ending...
I cry at anything that's remotely sad on tv...I'm a sucker...
I went to the doctor because I thought I was diabetic and came out of the office shocked that I was pregnant...it's the joke in the family...

i HATE beer. haven't even tasted it in over 10 years but just the smell can make me gag.
i haven't seen or spoken to my dad in over 3 years. (long story)

my oldest son was technically at both of his parents' high school graduations :P for mine, i was 5 months pregnant- and then his dad graduated the next year.

I am terrified of dying. When I am in the car I have to talk to myself to keep from having panic attacks when another car gets close to me.
I want to be a better person but I don't actually want to put the effort into becoming a better person.
Okay Kellie, I worry about that all the time too! And I am always stressed when DH and DS go somewhere without me. It's like my world is walking out the door.
As for the better person, it does just seem like so much work :p
