Necessity. The longer I wait to scrap ... the more pictures I have to scrap ... for some reason I am never uninspired to take a photograph.
Yes a really cool THEME kit will inspire me!

I'd say all of the above for me... sometimes I just have something really brewing around in my head that I just need to write down and I usually end up scrapping about it for therapy or just to sort it out... or sometimes I have some pictures that I just NEED to scrap or a story I need to scrap or mood and lately the portfolio has really inspired me to really think beyond just those things and gets me inspired to scrap about something I would have never thought to do.

Usually it's the pics that do it. Although I've been known to stage a photo just to give me an excuse to buy a super fab kit :)

My pictures inspire me most of the time. Sometimes it is a kit that inspires me to take a picture so I have something to scrap! :)

This is a tough one for me. I have tons of kits, tons of unscrapped journaling and tons of unscrapped pics. most times its the kit that brings the journaling and the pics together and sometimes the journalling brings the other 2 together. never ever is it the pics that spark the LO. Also generally, it never sparks at a convenient time.
So to answer your question... themed kits.

Templates!!! Ok, so not really, but sometimes I see a temp and think 'oooh you'll go well with xyz kit I have'
Normally it's photos though, and then other times I'm just in the mood to scrap for no reason, like the past 2 weeks! ;)

I usually have a story I want to scrap, then find photos and a kit that work with it.

Everything. Sometimes a challenge, or some journaling, or an event, or a specific kit, a sketch, a site... anything can make me think "Oh! I need to scrap! NOW!"

depends. most of the time i'm inspired by the story behind the photo, other times the colors in a kit, other times i get an idea in my head that needs out, and sometimes i just need to get some emotions out. just depends.

I'm always playing catch up. I have probably hundreds of photos to scrap (I started scrapping when DS was about 6 mths old, so I had a lot of photos to work back through). I don't scrap chronologically because I normally start with the kit, and I'll usually know by looking at it, which photos will work well with it, or if it's a themed kit, I'll go find some photos to match. I'm never short of inspiration though :D

Sometimes the kit, but most often the pictures. I have so many good ones, and so little time!

For me it's about the pics too. Sometimes I am just in the mood and don't have 'the right' pic. Then I re-do a page or scraplift one...

definitely the kit. But I think with my Ben being here now, I will be inspired by his pics more than kits.:p

I'd say just the sheer fun of it. I've always loved doing something graphic on the computer, and I've always loved papers - textured papers, colored papers, patterned papers. But I was too much a perfectionist when working with real papers - what if I make a mistake when cutting? Then it'll be wasted ... When I finally found out about digiscrapping (which was pretty late, actually) it was the perfect match and ever since then I've been hooked.

It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I have a really awesome new kit or a creative team kit and work from there. Sometimes I have a great picture and go from there. Sometimes I have a composition in mind first and sometimes a topic. It really depends.

Depends on the day.
Photos. Story. Moment. Me time. Just have the urge. A song. For fun. Challenges. Prize.

Usually anything, and everything! I love to scrap, and it's MY thing, ya know? I'm the only one I know irl who digi scraps, and everyone loves my layouts. I love taking time out to just relax and scrap, I love the digi aspect of it, the creating memories part of it, everything. I get inspired by my pics, by kits, by a story I want to get down, or out even.
But lately nothing is inspiring me! :( sucks.

Sometimes I see a kit and the perfect photos/story pop into my head. Sometimes I just need to self express - that normally ends up with a whole bunch of bittys and pieces. And sometimes, I'm getting better at it, something actually happens and I want to document it :p

Pictures, most of all. Especially with kiddo layouts done for friends a LO is always triggered by a cute photo I can't resist to scrap.
In other cases, the choice of picture is sometimes dictated by "outer circumstances" - challenges, occasions (birthdays, holidays) or a beautiful kit (again - mostly if it's perfect for a photo I already have), but it's always about showcasing the pictures. I do love a story behind it, too, but sometime I choose not to tell it directly by journalling and content myself with knowing there is one.

hmm... lately it's the kit for the designer I CT for is releasing... will spark which photos and which story I will tell. :D However, I always have a layout kicking around in the ol' think tank... then that is almost always the story that I want to get down before I forget it.

It's a kit for me. I love looking through a new kit that just totally makes me happy. But I have to know that I can tell a story with it, or else I skip the kit altogether.

Me too! It is so frustrating since it is how I "define" myself in a way. Its like a writer not being able to write or a painter not wanting to paint. But it is what it is, and I'll get back eventually. Baby steps!

LOL... this is me too!
And, if the kit looks versatile and I might use it for cards or I like the mood of the kit, I may change a pic to match the kit... Your Come Away With Me kit, for instance. I would convert a pic to B+W or something because I like the kit and the feel of it even if I don't have any pics to scrap with it right off the bat.
