For several weeks, my son (who has epilepsy) has been having more and more seizures. So far, we have been unable to find a medicine that will stop them. Could you please say some prayers for him (and for me, since I'm so anxious and upset I'm barely able to function)?

My friend had a girfriend with epilepsy and I witnessed two seizures of her in the same afternoon, so I can understand how hard it's for you.

Oh Dawn that is truly scary (my youngest has an epileptic syndrome too). What sort of epilepsy does he have? Have you got another EEG organised to see if there is a change to the type of epilepsy he has?

My daughter's noticeable seizures were few and have been helped by Sodium Valproate. However, the rest of her condition remains untreated as those meds we did try didn't work and aggravated her emotions and behaviour so much more.

Are you on any forums or member of a support group that may offer some more pertinent suggestions?

Sorry for all the questions, but I do know how hard dealing with epilepsy and the maze of medications is. I truly hope that you can find some answers soon.

There are definitely changes in the patterns were seeing, but the doctor doesn't think that an EEG will change the way he'll treat him at this point (and we've had 3 in the past). My son has been on Depakote for a couple years, but it seems to have stopped working for him and we've tried several drugs over the last few weeks that aren't stopping them either. It's frustrating and scary for all of us.

You all are in my prayers! There is nothing worse than feeling helpless as a momma when your kiddo is sick! Praying for wisdom for the doctors and for strength and patience for you.

oh no :( i know it's different for everyone, and you may have already tried this without any change- but my son has been on tegretol for 5 years now and that keeps his under control. blood tests every 3 months (or more if i suspect he's grown a ton) to check the tegretol levels. hope they can get things figured out quick. sorry if i looked over this- but how old is your LO?
