If you were going on a road trip...

I need some help! A couple of friends are moving to Nicaragua this winter for 6 months, and are driving, and I'm helping throw a Going Away party for them... I got the idea of throwing together a gag "Road Trip Essentials" gift for them, and I need fun(ny) ideas to put inside. So far I have:

- toilet paper
- a random map (for some totally unrelated country)
- ear plugs (for when they are tired of listening to each other)
- sleep mask

Ideas?? Please help!

Crosswords or some other puzzle book, like Mad Libs? or Car Bingo
A road trip/traveling songs CD
Some change, or just a quarter for a 'Pay phone" they're few & far in between these days I think.
Tums for heartburn gauranteed to get from eating at "on the side of the road diners"/truck stops.

Really - they are going to drive through Mexico right now? My dad did this years ago (late 90's) - My step mother is from Panama and he said it was pretty scary driving - and he would never do it again... Has it gotten better?

We've been telling them for MONTHS it's too dangerous... especially because they bought a brand new Jeep and got it all modified for off roading and going through deep water. And she is really pretty. Of course, they were totally stubborn and keep saying they will be fine. Nobody could convince them otherwise. (they are in their early 20's - completely thinking they are invincible).

BUT FINALLY, my friend just told me minutes ago (cause I'm online & planning the party with her) that they've decided that they are going to fly because it's too dangerous. Of course they wouldn't listen to anyone, but they had to figure it out for themselves when they realized that there were huge drug wars going on in Mexico & other countries.

Glad they figured it out before they got robbed or killed for their vehicle. They were going to stick out like a sore thumb in a brand new, decked out Jeep w/ Canadian plates!

I was thinking that they were a little crazy - My first thought when I saw this post was - A really big gun!!!!! Glad to hear they are reconsidering - unless you are a Mexican citizen, I don't think this is a trip I would take -
