ce really digs cameras... a lot. i was thinking of maybe getting him a digi camera for his bday/christmas (he has a cheapy kid film camera that I never buy film for ^_^ ).. anyway, I don't want one of those kid digital cameras that they throw down the stairs- i want to get him a real one- but a cheap one of course..
any suggestions? I just have a cannon powershot ..but I know there are some cheaper options.. like the kodak easyshare ones etc. I don't think ce actually cares how wonderful his photos are :p.. esp since most of them will be like, up the cats nose or butt pictures- but I want it to be reliable too & not annoy him.. I def want to stay under 100 - even lower is better- as he is .. a child :p and children break things.

anyway.. hit me.

keep your eye on Woot. They often have semi-decent ones for under $100. I'm thinking of getting one for my 8 year old this year, too.

I'd also check ebay for used cameras that you can probably get really cheaply.

We got Amelia a Sanyo something or other last year for her birthday. I think it was around $100? It takes great pictures, and even has some manual features, which is nice when I take it instead of my Rebel.

last year around Christmas time Office Depot had open box cameras for sale... some nice ones that are usually over $100 for really cheap, like one I saw was a canon for $40.

here is a nice little kodak point and shoot. I had one for many years which I gave to my daughter when she moved out and she is still using it. I also have my first digital camera which was also a kodak and it is still working. Has been dropped many times and still works. I also think the screen is a great size for a kid...not teeny tiny like alot of the inexpensive digital cameras have (my first one only had a one inch screen!!)

I heard that panasonic does relatively good point and shoot ones. But I have no experience myself.

Btw, I would look for a cheap offer for one of those water proof ones (up to 3m or something). So your kid can take some fun water pictures and you don't have to worry, that it gets soaked "by accident".

I would make sure it has a way to turn off the 'red eye reduction' so when you turn on the camera it's off. I found that with the 'red-eye' stuff on, it just takes too long to flash, which is challenging for a kid!
