I need some outside opinions please! We are keeping our baby names a secret from our friends & family because we love being able to surprise them with not only the sex (we aren't finding out), but also the name. So, I can't ask them, lol. Lucky you - you get to be my sounding boards!
So, DH and I are settled on a boy's name (the first name anyways, we aren't 100% sure on a middle yet), but we have no idea for a girls.
Which do you prefer for a boy:
1 - Ryker Allan Smith (my dad's middle name is Allan)
2 - Ryker Aspen Smith (no reason for Aspen, we just like it)
I worry about picking a family name for the middle name, because my DD was named after both my grandmother & mom. So if we name a boy with my dad's name, I'm worried that my DH's parents will be offended that we didn't name one of our children after their side of the family, you know? But on DH's side, there is Donald, Carl or Alfred. DH got both Donald & Alfred as his middle names (Brad Donald Alfred Smith - nice hey???), and I'm NOT naming my son (if we have one) with any of those names. Maybe we should just stick with Aspen, lol.
For a girl, we are tossing around:
1 - Alora / Elora Emmalee Smith
2 - Isla Brienny Smith
3 - Delaina Aubrey Smith (not sure on the middle name - but I love the first)
Question about Brienny. Our first daughters middle name is Brielle. Is Brienny too matchy-match? Would it sound stupid to have 2 daughters, first one Avalynne Brielle, and #2 be Isla Brienny?? Obviously we are drawn to the "Brie" sounding names, lol!! Looking at it now though - it looks & sounds weird. Any suggestions on a good middle name for Isla?
ETA: I see most don't care for my middle name choices (I admit they aren't sitting well with me either). What do you think of either Renee or Jade as middle names for Isla & Delaina?

I vote #1 on Boy and Alora Emmalee for Gril. Love that name!

Ryker Allen is my fave for the boy
As for the girls, I love Aubrey and I love Isla...but not sure on middle names or combos, lol!

Definitely Ryker Allen for the boy. (But only because I went to school with a girl named Aspen so to me it's a girl name -- obviously not every one would have this association!)
For a girl, I like Isla the best. Very pretty.

I'm not set on any of the girls middle names either, except for Alora Emmalee. The other 2 were just kind of thrown together, lol.
I LOVE the name Aubrey, but DH doesn't really like it. He said I could use it for a middle name, but not a first, so I'm trying to sneak it in that way. Delaina was a name that I've liked since I first heard it (a really sweet girl I met a couple years older than me), and DH really likes it. Well, we like all the first names, it's the middle names we are drawing a blank on, lol.
ANY suggestions are welcome! We are staying away from anything popular (like in the top 100), but are pretty open to anything else.

I like Ryker Allan and Delaina Aubrey. I think Aubrey is a really pretty name. Not sure about a middle name that goes with Isla. I'll have to think about that.

Ryker Allen isgreat! I've heard Aspen used as a dogs name a lot, so I kinda would not immediately think of it as a boys name. Delaina Aubry is very pretty, that would be my pick for a girl.

I like Ryker Allen -- I think if you're going with an unusual first name, it balances well with a traditional middle name. Not a huge fan of any of the girls' names, especially not Isla (reminds me too much of the Jurrassic Park movies... Isla Sorna, Isla whatever). Delaina is OK, but I'd got with more traditional for the middle name. I don't like the initials DJ, so Delaina Jade doesn't sit well with me, and Renee is almost too traditional. Delaina Grace, maybe? Grace, Hope, Faith... I love those traditional middle names. I like Joy for a middle name, but not with Delaina.
Good luck!

I never thought of DJ as initials, lol. Jade would be from my name, and Renee is my sister's middle name (and the guardian of my children, so they both have special meaning to me).
But it is SO hard, lol. With DD #1, we pretty much stumbled through until we found her name, and fell 100% in love. There was no debate at all - which makes it so much harder in round #2, lol!

I really love Ryker Allan. As for the girls, I love the name Isla and I love Aubrey. Is Isla Aubrey out of the question?

It took us FOREVER but we finally are decided on Kennedy for our little girl's first name. She still has no middle name yet because of course J is being a pain about it.
I like Ryker Aspen & either 1 or 3 for the girl name.

I like Ryker Allan and Alora Emmalee.
Is Brienny too matchy-match? Would it sound stupid to have 2 daughters, first one Avalynne Brielle, and #2 be Isla Brienny??
Well, I have an Emmaline Camille and an Eleanor Clare, so obviously I have no problems with the matchy-match!

could the girls middle name be a family last name?
ryker allen - you could always say that the al is also for alfred.
i like isla. it's pronounced EYE-LA right? my only worry is she will constantly be correcting people her entire life on how to pronounce it. i get chelsea all the time.
isla jane
isla rae
isla rose
isla mae
isla marie
isla faye
isla claire
isla june
isla grace
isla jean
isla raine
isla elizabeth
i'm thinking something more traditional and maybe one syllable goes better. i say make sure you yell it up the stairs a few times to be sure you can yell it when you need to!

I liked Isla too and your suggestions are great, except for all the ones with R names as a middle name because then her three initials would be unfortunate. ;)

Hahaha! Good point! We are definitely testing out all the initials to make sure they don't spell something bad, lol!

Definitely no last name could be used as a girls middle name from our families, lol! My mom's maiden name was Sandercock, my maiden name was Flaterud, my MIL's name was Dube, and our last name is Smith. Oy.

isn't selecting baby names the hardest?! I'm no help... my hubby and I couldn't agree on a name to save our lives... it's a good thing that DS was a boy because Jacob David was the only name we agreed upon (middle name is my hubby's 1st name). But for what it's worth... I like the sound of Ryker Allen and as for a girls name... Delaina Aubrey is such a pretty name...

I like the #3 combo for the girl name the best. Every time I see "Alora" I think of Endora from Bewitched. LOL I'm sure that is not what others think though. I had no idea Isla had a silent "s" so I think that's going to be hard and she will have to correct everyone her whole life when they mispronounce it. My favorite of all the names separately though is Emmalee. :)
