Can anyone make some suggestions for drop shadow settings in PSP?
Like maybe for things "close" to the paper (paper strips etc) and settings for depth (i.e. evergreen branch)?
Or any other ideas you can think of?
Thank you! :)

When I used PSP a several years ago, Traci Murphy offered some that you could purchase and I used them.

I don't use PSP but Brandy did a tutorial last year on PSP shadows on my blog...http://mydigitalstash.com/archives/306
Let me know if it's out of date or is any help!

That's a big help Penny! TY!
Paula - I don't think Traci is selling her scripts anywhere.

I usually use a dark brownish color for my shadows. I think for paper I use 7-7, 20% or 25 % blur and 75% opacity. I figure I can always lower the opacity in the layers if need be. Also if it is on dark paper I use black for the shadow and then put the layer property to burn and play with the opacity in the layers to get it to look the way I like it. That is just my preferences though when I do layouts...might not work for you. I know Nikki used PSP so maybe she can pop in and give you some other settings. Also I always have it set to show on the file when doing it and I move the box over so I can see what it will look like before I hit ok. If it does not look right I will tweak the settings a little til it does. One last thing is you can use the warp brush to tweak the shadow and how it looks to make it look more realistic (like for instance on a ribbon that is not laying flat on the paper)

For things close to the page - papers, photos etc my settings are usually:
Offset:
Horiz: 4
Vertical: 3
Opacity: 75-80 (depending on the color)
Blur: 15-20
For things I want a deeper shadow on:
Offset:
Horiz: 10-14 (i'll usually go up to 14 with things like flowers)
Vertical: 10-14
Opacity: 50-70 (depending on the color)
Blur: 40-45
Those are my two extremes...I use all kinds of settings in the middle range for elements depending on how far away from the page they would be.
I also like to give my shadow a shadow for things I really want to pop off the page and use the blend modes...(usually multiply and then adjust the opacity) Then you can move that second shadow around and make things like flowers/greenery have more depth.
Stitching gets a very thin dark shadow:
Horiz: 2
Vert: 2
Opacity: 85
Blur 10-15
And I use the warp tool to adjust things like strings and ribbons..

For stitches I use 3, for things further away I start with 15 and play around. For general things I use 10. I use 20 for blur and 60 for opacity and will occasionally play around. I use preview on image so I can see for sure how it looks right away. I also use a dark gray for color.
