View Full Version : Folder Previews for MAC

I bought a MacBook Pro a several months ago and I haven't located a way to preview the contents of a folder without opening it. I've tried adding plug ins, etc, but nothing has done the trick. I can see a preview if I click on the folder and hit the space bar, but I'd really like to be able to see a preview of all of my folders at once without having a bunch of cumbersome steps. For some reason, when I tried the trick of going to "get info" and replacing the image in the top left with my desired preview, it doesn't add the image to the folder, it just adds the .jpg icon. I'm totally frustrated by this {sigh} Any suggestions? Am I even making sense?

you mean like the kit preview as the icon for the folder?

Yes, exactly! I can't figure out how to get that!

ok you open up the kit preview in preview, cmd A to select all cmd c to copy it. Then you open up the info panel for the folder (click on the folder icon and cmd i) then click on the the top folder icon (the little one) and cmd v to paste

Traci, I've tried that, but all I get is the jpg icon and not the image of what I've pasted. What could I be doing wrong? It's driving me nuts. I've tried all different sizes of images to paste to see if that could be the issue, but it doesn't seem to matter.

i remember i had a lot of issues at first but I was doing it wrong. LOL... you're copying the actual image and not the image file right?

Thanks for working with me on this Traci, I really appreciate it! I guess I'm not sure what the difference is between the actual image and the image file. I'm highlighting the image, copying it and then pasting it on the icon in the "get info" window on the upper left.

ok so you want to make sure you double click on the image and open it in preview and copy the image like you would in photoshop, rather than copying the file itself in the folder like you were going to copy it from one folder and move it to another folder.
Are you opening the image file in preview?

oooh see I just tried to copy the icon in the folder of the image and it gave me the jpeg thing so I think that's the step you're missing.
