Grrrr I am really frustrated. I am a size 10/12. I pretty much know what size I wear in most brands I typically buy and tonight I bought two pairs of shorts at walmart and the stupid things do not fit yet I have two pairs I bought there a few years ago which are either an 8 or a 10 and they fit great. Same flippin brand. I love A.n.a at JC Penneys because they are cut right every time. I dont even need to try them on. (no I did not try on the ones at walmart. I will never use a changing room there again after what my husband found on the bench there when he tried on shorts...dont ask. Its gross) So what about you? Do you have the same problem? I have a few stores I really like to shop at that are pretty reliable on their sizes but sometimes I can find a certain thing I really love like jeans or shorts or something and want more then one pair and even the same ones in the same size can be cut differently. It is really frustrating.

i am not a shopper. i have long legs (35 inch inseam - so regular is too short and long is generally a little too long.) I find brands that work and stick with them generally. i have a fiend who swears by qvc - everything on qvc is the same exact size regardless of the brand.

i have to try on all bottoms.. and thus avoid shopping like the plague... they never fit the same. I have skirts in sizes 5 to 8 . . most of my jeans are 6's but then i have a pair of jeans that are a size 10 and are snug.
so yes..... I always try on.. because.. wth.. 5 to 10? haha I could be anywhere in there LOL

I hate when that happens. When I am shopping in a store and I find my regular size not fitting, I always go out and try to see if they have another in that same size. A lot of the time, another one in the exact size will fix differently.

Oh and I discovered since I am kinda short if I buy a petite the waist is a little smaller then the regulars. I am shorter but still curvy. I have to have something that accomodates bigger hips and it is so frustrating to find something I really love but have it either fit in the hips and be bigger everywhere else or fit everywhere else and be snug on my hips. I dont even try to look at juniors anymore because they do NOT cut for curves LOL

Because of the way the fabric is stacked while they cut it, 2 pairs of pants by the same company in the same size and style can vary an inch or more. I make myself try on every pair of pants before I buy because it's so frustrating when I like one, try to get another just like it, and it fits differently!

Different styles by the same company are also meant to fit different body types, so they can be cut very differently. For example, I wear Levis 526 and 545 jeans. I have thin legs and a flat rear, but I carry my weight in the stomach (unfortunately, sigh). Other Levis in the same size don't fit at all.

That is why I typically only get jeans from the buckle or stores similar that go by waist size and length. The number system is a crock of....

Yep seems like there is lots and lots more variance! And seriously I'm not big (size 6) but I have muscular legs and most jeans/pants right now are for skinny legs. So frustrating. So it doesn't even matter what size you are!!! I had a pair of Levi 525's a few years ago that I loved, went back to buy more and they totally changed the style. Um can they do that? Isn't that why they have numbers so you can rely on the style?

Pants are almost frustrating as bathing suits and you have to wear them all the time!!

I do love Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor Loft though. They seem to be consistent (when they don't completely change the style) and I always fit a size smaller (which I know but still makes me feel happy).

I had a friend who worked in clothing and she said that it was a very common process that when there was an order for 12 size and they didn't have that, they would take a different size and slap on a size 12 tag. I also think that companies are skimping on fabric so that can cut costs. I have clothes in my closet from 10 years ago and it's technically 2 sizes smaller than what today's sizes say I wear.

when I was a teen I wanted to open up my own designer line (not because I was into fashion) and for example... if you were a size 10/12... you would fit into a 7/8... I thought that would help a person's self esteem. Ha, ha.

yep, that is called vanity sizing. There are some companies that do that on a regular basis, like high-end women's stores are pretty notorious for that.

I have to try on EVERYTHING. Even if it's a brand I normally buy. I am short and I have had three babies..big ones. lol so I am curvy in the hips and things are almost always too big or too small. There is no good size for short people with bigger hips! It's incredibly frustrating! Lately, I have been buying Levis jeans because I can wear a size smaller than normal. lol

I went into Buckle and could not get past the prices...they had cute clothes but I would not pay 50 or 60 for jeans and sometimes even more. 40 dollars for a pair of jeans is kinda a stretch for me. But yea I do agree it is easier to find pants that fit if it is measured by the waist. My husband is a 36/30 or 36/31 and he can go into the store and buy a pair of pants or shourts and they ALWAYS fit!! Guys have it so much easier. Oh the other thing that bugs me is in shirts I can wear a medium or large depending on the style. Typoically they do fit without trying on. The one exception is when I buy button style shirts then I have to try on because the size I usually wear rarely ever fits my chest.

yea me too crystal!! you should look at the Ana brand at JCPenneys though. They have some cute stuff and when it is on sale not badly priced. I love that brand so much. I bought like 4 pairs of jeans from that brand this year and they fit great!! They are also really cute/stylish. Defenitely not "mom" jeans :)

One more thing I really really hate are SKINNY JEANS!!!! I cannot wait for that style to be gone. I liked flares. I love bootcut. I wear boots alot. They look just dumb with skinny leg jeans and I do not look good in those jeans. Too many curves to wear skinny jeans LOL

FYI....if you buy jeans from the buckle, they do FREE alterations. I have used them and they are great. I even have a friend that worked there at one time and she said a lot of little people (is that the PC term?) shop there because they can get cute clothes with free alterations. Yes, they cost a bit more. I just thinking finding that PERFECT fit of jeans is important and I have never been disappointed in the quality I get there.

I did not know that about the alterations! I might try that sometime. Honestly I think with jeans and stuff sometimes paying more is totally worth it! i used to shop there...before I had kids. lol now they get all the nice stuff. :p

I love skinny jeans.

And that's really all I have to contribute at this time.

I don't mind spending the bit more when I wear them for 4-6 years. :) Korea doesn't have a buckle, but they do free shipping to APO's. I find that and my numbers means they will usually fit. Its so worth it to me.
