I want to plan something for my hubby's birthday this week coming.
Last year his birthday was NOT good.. those of you who were here last year may remember he had a pretty not so nice accident :( Anyways last year for his birthday he was in the hospital.. he did get to come home on his birthday but it obviously was not a very happy birthday..
so this year I want to do something nice but i'm just not sure what?!
I'm thinking just something as a family.. ordering dinner/cake just sounds sorta boring. any suggestions?

what about going and doing something special that he'd enjoy? I don't know if you guys have a go-kart track or anything, but something like that would make my husband thrilled. Anything that basically lets him be a little boy again makes him super happy, so we always try to find something fun for his birthday like that.

ohh.. and that brings up a good point.
we have nothing here. really. nothing.. lol..
this may be a very difficult task.. haha.. maybe a movie night at home will be special enough :/

Does he have a favorite movie? You could do an entire themed night around it or something. I know how hard it is to do things when there is nothing...for 3 years we lived in another country, that had nothing along the lines of what we call fun....well, had nothing in the area at least, everything was at least 3 hrs away.
What about making his favorite meal and a game night? Wii Bowling?
What about a babysitter and have a date night "in"? Oooh that could be romantic! :)

A themed movie night sounds so fun! Have a whole slew of titles and go all out with decor and snacks, etc :) Maybe his gift can be matched with the theme too :)

well i def. know his fav movie.. its fast & furious.. any of them...
this is a good idea. i could probably do something up. and i'm sure he would enjoy me watching them with him since i usually come up with an excuse to not watch them (he can watch those movies a million times lol)

hehe! I was going to suggest a Fast & Furious party. Some PS3 racing games, a movie, and you watching it with him without complaining... :p

hahaha, I just have to laugh....because it's the opposite at our house. I looove the Fast & Furious movies, and DH could care less for them. I think I need to do a marathon of them soon!

Darcy is so excited about the new one.. I even paused what i was doing the other day so he could watch the preview. I just don't get it haha :P
and tara!!! gosh ! LOL! :o
I'm not really sure if he would super love the idea of bowling. He'd probably be for it if it was for one of the kids parties I would think. His bday is on thursday and that is also lily's brownie night so i'm thinking having something at home might be the best idea.
Although ordering chinese from sparwood might be good.. still haven't tried the new place here in town (ps sonja its cedar garden from fernie - do you have any idea if it is good? LOL)

you know..just yesterday I was thinking about last year. I totally remember when that happened. :( It was so scary!
I love the movie idea..and some kind of surprise. Garret loves it when I surprise him with something..his fave meal, an awesome cake..etc. I surprised him with a nice gift this last bday. :) make him do a scavenger hunt or something for a gift or something. :D

Yea it really was :( Thankfully he is mostly recovered.. he will probably have pain from it especially in the winter. He is finding it pretty tough. Still goes to physio on a mostly weekly basis (can't always because he is a shiftworker and the therapist comes mon/weds) He still can't feel his pinky and that bothers him some.. he can't explain what it feels like though lol :) but at least he still has all his fingers :)

I vote for something at home...but with a babysitter keeping the kids out. Right before Christmas, our school did a babysitting fundraiser and we took advantage. After not being able to decide where to go to dinner, we decided to buy steaks and eat at home...with NO kids. It was amazing. I never realized that we are NEVER at HOME without kids. So we cooked up steaks and snuggled in bed and watched a movie while we ate. It was bliss.

Date night in sounds amazing!!
or if you really want to do something with the kiddos, You could do a F&F themed night & race Mouse Trap race cars or something similar? Maybe have the wee-ones help make/decorate his cake.

nope, only chinese I have had around here is Arrowana (which is my fave!) and the one up by you when Des was working at the rad shop (no clue if it's even still there. lol). We don't go to Fernie very often, only places I have been to there (besides McD's & Timmies) have been Boston Pizza & Rip' n' Richards. We aren't too adventerous, can you tell?

a movie theme night would be fun! we have a movie night (just shane and I) about once a week... but the theme part of it might be fun (snacks and such). A special dessert or cake would be nice.
How old is he turning? One year, I made a list of 100 things I love about Shane and put little strips of paper all over the house. But, you could keep it simpler and do as many strips of paper as he is old. More sentimental, but my hubby liked it. He still has the papers in his nightstand.
