I need to decorate 8 tables with different party themes (mainly for kids but adults would be good too). Any ideas?

Do you have an overall theme to go from or can it really just be anything?

It is for an activity for my church. The theme is planning birthday parties on a budget. Each table is to represent a different theme and how you can do it on your own for a lot cheaper than buying it at the store. It really can be quite random. Some of the ideas I have thought of so far include: circus/carnival, butterflys/bugs, fancy nancy or a Mad Hatter's Tea Party....I don't know. Really I am open to just about anything. I would love your advice.

Oh, we did a lot of theme parties with friends during my studying times. But it was of course for adults. And we rarely did decoration, was more about the costumes. Anyway, here are some I remember:
Fairytales, Space, Cowboys, Musicals, Halloween, Harry Potter, 70s

Other ideas that come to mind and fit for kids would be:
Pirates, Egypt, Science, Animals, Spy

this link is a good place to start: http://catchmyparty.com/parties

Parties we have done: Circus, Cowgirl/Cowboy, Rock n' Roll, Nascar/Racecars, Pirates, Princess Tea Party, Noah's Ark, Winnie the Pooh, Tinkerbell, Super Mario.

We rarely by the "licensed" merchandise. I always DIY the party

Favorites I would love to do: Dr Seuss (pick a favorite book and plan the party), Ladybug, Under the Sea, Fireman.

last year my son's 3rd birthday theme was based off the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book... so basically everything and anything to do with the alphabet... I also made a huge palm tree for the wall and cut out letters to put around it.

His 2nd birthday was farm/country related... so had a checkered table cloth, cut out farmer elements (Used Heather's eieio kit)... drank out of mason jars, etc.

His 1st birthday was rubber duckies... got a bunch of cheap rubber ducks through Oriental Trading... they were everywhere... in the punch bowl, scattered around the table, etc.. we had duck shaped cookies...

This year, I'm trying to figure out how to combine ties (my son is obsessed, has to wear one every day) and trains (another obsession)... haven't tried to figure it out... but it will be "DIY" :)

You could do something really easy with one table and just do a polka dot theme with bright colours.
