My baby is 5 today and it is just about killing me. :( He keeps rolling his eyes at me when I tear up. is it just me? I mean.. I'm overly emotional anyways, I know this.. but really? Just me? Someone make me feel better.
He's cute though.

Sorry, but I can't help - LOL - I didn't get overly emotional with any age. I did get emotional when DS left for boot camp at 18 and again at his wedding, but ages didn't bother me.
He IS ADORABLE!

Aw so cute!
It wasn't so much his 5th birthday that got me..it was starting Kindergarten...I cried for like a week lol...he'll be 6 in a couple of months now and with the school year more than halfway over I'm now wondering what the heck I'm going to do with him home all day for 2 months lol!

He's adorable!
it's not just you... though for me it was a couple weeks after Riah's 5th birthday when I came home from the hospital with Asher and all of the sudden my kids looked so grown up. They didn't look like babies anymore and those 3 days of being away looked like 3 years to me.

I didn't have a problem with 5, like Nikki, it was the starting kindergarten that rattled me!
JJ is such a little cutie!

My oldest had been in daycare, so the first day of kindergarten was just another day for us. But her 5th birthday was emotional for me too. You're not alone there. He's adorable!

What a cutie. That is going to be a fun pic to scrap with his little hand for 5.

Me not so much the younger years-My husband YES-He cries the entire day of Landen's bdays...Now the fact that Zak is 18 and Connor is almost 17-those are mental breakdown inducing ages.
It seems like yesterday that JJ was born!!

awww, he is such a cutie...
I'm emotional... period! Birthdays to everyday... I wish to stop time! Right now I'm really sad because these last 7 weeks kiddo has been in a swimming class for kids and parents... and today was the very last class that I would ever be able to be with him in class (because he turns 4 in middle of the next session)... I have been crying and worked up about it for the whole 7 weeks... then because of a (*^%^$ snowstorm last night, the Y canceled classes until 10 am... our class was at 9... *sniff* So I don't even get "closure" for being able to go to the very last class... and today was raft and life jacket day... :crying:
I have to go and cry my heart out... again! I wish this would get easier...

Aww, he's a cutie! I found kindergarten harder than his 5th birthday, and 6 was harder than 5 for me. But that's probably also because of when Jason's birthday falls--he's in Oct. and our school cutoff is in Sept., so when he turned 5 he still had almost a year of preschool left. He's also my oldest--I think birthdays will hit me harder for my youngest.

Aww, he's so cute!
And you're definitely not alone. Logan will be 5 in early May and I'm already dreading it. I may or may not have already shed a tear or two. I think just knowing that he's my last "baby" makes me kinda sad. This is such a fun age though, so I try to just treasure each day that he still wants to cuddle in my lap.

He's SO cute!!
And you're not alone. Giulia will be 6 in August and I'm starting to plan her b-day party and I'm already feeling emotional. Oh, and last week when she lost her 1st baby tooth and the other day when she started the 2011 school year again using books. GAH! The list goes on... *le sigh*

That's me too Maria.. he's my last baby. Sigh.
Thanks ladies :)
5 was hard, but kindergarten was harder and 6 even harder ... but that's just my oldest. I'm sure that when my youngest hits those milestones, I'll be a basketcase!

He is so sweet.
I think I was too young when my DD was growing up and it didn't hit me until she was in her late teens... but NOW... she and my grandson live with us. He just turned 13 months and every couple of weeks I end up crying because he's growing up so fast. I don't know how I'll make it through him growing up without being a blubbering mess.
Sara...Ethan turns 5 in two weeks. :( Yes that will be hard one for me, he's my baby, my last.
But he's so excited. It's hard to not be excited for him.

I think when my daughter turned 18 was the hardest for me. She made it so easy for us when she started school because she was soooo excited I just could not help but be happy. My boys on the other hand it was hard because they wanted to stay home with me so while I was happy they would be in school I felt really guilty making them go. But other then my daughters 18th I dont think any age made me feel really sad. Now my older boy turns 18 in about 8 months Im sure I will be a mess then.

none of them were really hard on me except for Sam's 16th b-day I was in Kuwait, so that really sucked....and my other DD just turned 5 in Jan and I was basically just excited cause that means she gets to go to school in the fall and she is SUPER excitd about that! I actually can't wait for my youngest to turn 5 so that I know all 4 of them will be in school and I don't have to pay daycare anymore~!
BTW...he is ADORABLE..I LOVE his little glasses!

No, I didn't have any issue with the 5th birthday (last October). And the first day of preschool wasn't a biggie...so far the most emotional thing was when she walked into school by herself...after about a week or two of school, she just wanted mommy to drop her off in the car line. That was tough

You are definitely not alone! Several different ages got to me & 5 was one of them . . . but none was as bad as when he left for college halfway across the country. I was absolutely crazy until he came home at Christmas, and then fine. Not a problem when he got married, cause his wife & I are good friends, so we are still very close. I WILL tell you, though, that I nearly had a stroke right after Christmas when my baby boy turned 40! I know most of you all aren't even that old yet, but believe me - it will happen before you know it!! Don't need to tell you but I'll say it anyway: Savor every single moment, but don't get so caught up in not wanting them to grow up that you're preoccupied and miss it!!

Ok, I just had a funny moment. As I have no kids, I apparently don't think in those patterns. I just saw the thread title and instinctly thought about the SSD birthday. I was really wondering, how anyone can have a problem with that??? I mean, awesome celebration!
So maybe, this shall remind us all that some things just get better and better with time. :)
