I finally had enough of BOA today when they told me they were going to hold a federal check for 10 days before releasing the funds. We went to 5/3 today and they made the funds available tomorrow on a brand new account and they were soooooo much nicer then BOA. When I told the lady at BOA I would be closing our accounts her respoonse was "Oh well....go ahead reallhy do not care." To which I replied you know you really are a witch. Only maybe not so nicely. So as soon as all our transactions outstanding are done I will be going to close my accounts with BOA and I can tell them exactly what I think of their bank and how much nicer the people at 5/3 are to deal with and how much more personable they are. I mean they actually talked to use like we were people. Talked to my husband about hunting and fishing. About cars...BOA never did that. AND we had A ZERO MINUTE WAIT!!! The guy told us if we go to a larger branch and have more then a five minute wait there they will pay us five dollars!!

I've never banked with BOA, but from what some friends have said your story is pretty typical. I use a local CU and love them.

We won't do business with them because they told us to lie on a loan application when we were trying to get funding for a house loan so it would look better about why we were getting it. We set our pens down, said um..no thanks, and walked out.

I should say it was one person who said it, but they represent the actions of the bank, and we just couldn't do that.

ha, wow! i'm so sorry for your issues. i've had really good luck with them.... so far, but my account is only a month old.... i'm sure there are issues to come... HOWEVER, DH opened an account the same time i did and he got his first paycheck today and deposited it at the atm like they said we could so it could be available immediately... welllllllll they are now holding his paycheck for 10 days... good news is that next week it will be a direct deposit, lol...

he was pretty pissed.... still is, i still am of course cause that means he has to go to amscot and hope they give us a cash advance enough to cover a few bills that are due tomorrow and friday

pretty sure it is illegal to withhold a paycheck. might want to call the manager or go in and talk to someone and let them know it is a paycheck

i've never had an issue with them, and i've been with them since the summer.
then again... i never have more than like, $40 in my account. and don't exactly use it. plus, it's a student account.

i was with td bank. and they suck, and are rude and mean and horrible. and then i was with sovereign (which is basically... only new england-based), who i loved and miss. and now i'm with BoA. and i don't have issues. maybe i'm in the minority.

it sucks that they were so rude, though!

I've heard a lot of bad stories from BOA customers. Dave Ramsey likes to voice his opinion on them a lot on his radio show. lol We use a local credit union and love them.

We have been with a CU for many years and would not ever consider switching.

I hate BoFA intensely. I was closing an account with them because we were moving. Unfortunately, our health insurance company didn't stop their autowithdrawal like I'd told them to, and they withdrew from the nearly empty (but not closed) account. I don't know if you know this, but there's a check system for checking accounts that a bank can blacklist you on. BoFA blacklisted us, and that meant it was very difficult (almost impossible) to find a bank that would let us open up an account at another bank. Even though the situation was explained to BoFA, they wouldn't put a note on their black mark. It stayed that way for about 7 years.

I really really really hate them.

My husband did find a local bank with a sympathetic manager where we were moving that let us open up an account. It's now Citibank, and I've never had trouble with them.

When DH and I were newly married, we looked at joining bank accounts. He was at one bank and I was at another. I went into his bank to ask some questions and the lady on customer services was so rude (wouldn't talk to me - kept saying they were busy, and to take a pamplet, that it was all explained in there). Um, NO. I walked out of there and told DH I would never bank with them. He went in the next day and cleared his accounts. The Bank Manager was livid about his staff members actions, and really distressed it cost them a good account. DH said "Your customer service was so offensive my wife will not bank with you. Neither will I." He said the manager almost bent over backwards trying to get the accounts back (over $50,000 worth), even offering tickets to a big rugby game. DH said it was too late. We joined another bank and they've been great.

So weird. I've been with BOA since 2005 and never had a problem with any of my bank accounts. Jordan had his accounts through them as well, and we made his a joint and closed mine.

There are many many reasons aside from the one today that I hate BOA but they would fill a book if I wrote them all out. Talking to the guy at 5/3 he told me that he has heard ALOT of bad stuff about BOA. We have been with them since they were Nationsbank here in Florida (not sure if that was nationwide or not)

A perfect example...

We were selling a car that was listed nationwide. I am well aware of all the scams so we took a long time talking to the guy who wanted to buy it. He went out of his way to get a cashiers check from BOA. We took it to our BOA and they told us they were going to hold it for 10 days because A.it was a cashiers check and B.it was over 5000 dollars. Which made the guy who bought the car very upset and made it seem to him like we were trying to defraud him. He had ALOT of money. he went to his BOA and spoke to the bank manager who called our bank manager and told him to cash the d*mn check. It was fixed at that point. But come on if they cannot check the authenticity of a check drawn on one of their own accounts there is a serious problem. They could have picked up the phone and called the bank which issued the check. They could have done alot of things but chose not to. Just one of the many reasons I do not like them!!

OH I hate BOA with the fire of a thousand suns! I have a credit card with them that I am desperately trying to pay off and my checking account is gone. I schedule an auto payment for my car and I specifically scheduled it to be drawn after my paycheck. On Christmas Eve, they drew it out 3 days early and caused me to overdraft because I had paid for a Christmas tree which I would have had enough money. I talked to them and the lady said that they couldn't control when my car company took the money. You're the bank, that's your job! Made me so made I closed my account the new week. Now I'm with a local state bank and they are the nicest, I also have my business accounts with them.

I've been with Bank of America for over 20 years, and I've had NO problems with them. They have called and cancelled my cards when they've been compromised on the internet, given me amazing service....I'm so surprised to hear that anyone would have problems with them. I had all my boys go and open their accounts with them as well.

I also have an account with Wells Fargo. I banked with them 40 years ago, but just opened an account about 8 years ago so when Rick is working in Alaska, we have a bank up there that's also down here. I only have our direct deposits there...but still do all my banking from BofA...like all my online banking.

When I was in Europe, I used my WF debit card for all my transactions. They gave me a better service fee. Still not a reason for me to ever leave BofA.

Sorry you had problems with them, but glad you found somewhere that could take care of you!
