So as many of you know, we are adding a baby boy (yay!) to our family in 2 months. With Allie, I didn't run into this dilemma because we are both (obvously) girls. lol My question is, do you think if you have a boy baby that you should have neutral or boy colored diaper bags, baby wearing wraps, etc.... or do you think since mommy is a girl that she can have a fun girly print on her bag or wrap? :D

well my first was/is a boy - and I stuck with boy colors. got a really fun petunia picklebottom diaper bag for us to use - it's boy colors but a really fun fabric that I love. So I think you can find a happy medium. But that's just me. :)

Well, obviously I don't have kiddos yet, but when I do, they'll be MINE! I'll be wearing the wrap, bags, etc, not the baby. So, I want them to be me & my style! :)
But, I also agree w/Erin that you could find a happy medium! You could still do like a chocolate brown, turquoise & lime green print or something that would be super cute & fun for you but still fine for a boy.

I only choose boy colored diaper bag and wrap so that my husband can use them. Even then he seems to have a hard time with the design. Gosh men.

See, that's why you buy 2 diaper bags...one for you & let him pick one out for himself that he wouldn't mind carrying! :)

I KNOW my hubby won't wear a wrap, so that'd be all mine... but I was thinking I want a cute diaper bag this time around (ours was just a plain black messenger bag last time around) and he can use the free diaper bag from the hospital since it's super boring. haha

Well... I got a Coach diaper bag for ME... and hubby got to use the manly baby blue cutizy baby snoopy one... LOL! Later, I did get a navy blue Land's End one at a rummage sale - it was HUGE loved it... I think go with the style you want to go with... diaper bags now days look like huge purses... and I think that if anyone sees you hubby with it and the baby, the women are going to go "awww... look, hon... HE is helping!" ;)

I say get what you love for yourself. I would have Moriah in all pink and a pink carrier and a pink paci and people still would call her a "he" or "him"... that's when I realized that that kind of stuff didn't matter and bought what I liked... For babywearing and diaper bags I think of them as an extension of my wardrobe so I "wear" my baby in whatever color goes with my outfit. I have this favorite rainbow wrap of mine and I can't tell you how many looks we got like we were a couple when I'd be out hiking with my girlfriend who also had a rainbow carrier LOL. Whatever... we like rainbows :) and gosh... it's the middle of the day on a weekday... it wasn't like it was the weekend, lol.

I didn't have a boy....so I can't give advice based on experience. But, I would say that if I wore a wrap, I would have it be an extension of my wardrobe and what I really loved. The diaper bag I would probably do more neutral or boyish so that when my DH carried it spur of the moment he wouldn't pitch a fit about carrying a girl bag for a boy baby. :p But, that is just how my DH would be.
Congrats btw! I didn't know you were expecting. :)

when my kids were babies there werent as many choices as there are now but Id probably end up doing something neutral. I tend to wear alot of neutrals though so that would not be something I would dislike using. I think though you can choose neutral and still have femenine touches if you wanted

I chose the things for me, but not like in pink or flowery. More balanced.

well I did "wear" my babies so experience advice there, but I think if you like it {color ..design...etc} then GET IT! but I had a beautiful pink asian print diaper bag with Abby and since she was still in diapers when Peyton was born, I just kept using it. But we also had a small diaper bag {something cheap} that Matt woudl take if we went somewhere....but if we were together, he didn't have an issue with the pink bag :)

Yes, it's an extension of your wardrobe so wear whatever you want!!! I even had a "boyish" sling with Naomi...not because I ever used it for a boy but because I wanted something that would look great with blue jeans and black or white t-shirts...you know, a wardrobe staple :)

I'm soooo happy to hear most of you think it's okay for me to pick something for ME! ;)

Definitely get what you like. The baby is too young to care, and you're the one who's using it as a fashion accessory. I wore Ben in a purple ring sling and other carriers that had flowers, and I wore Lauren in blue ones and didn't think twice.
When I bought my first diaper bag, before Jason was born, I did as the books suggested and tried to pick a bag that Dan would carry, too. He never carried it, and I didn't like it much. Lesson learned. My personal preference is for a black diaper bag (or purse) but after that first one most of mine looked like purses instead of diaper bags.
Here's Ben in my girliest carrier. Most of what I have is more neutral (blacks, browns, and blues with pops of color), but that's because I like to have carriers that will go with everything I wear.

I wore a black/white paisley wrap more so because I wanted it to "go" with what I was wearing. My diaper bag was a teal blue/brown and I loved the colors so that is why I chose it. I kept ordering all types of bags and they were all different. One was green, all brown for the dad but it was suede and smaller. Everyone loved that one for some reason. I had a gray one with red/white flowers too.

As a mom who'd had two boys... 90% of the time strangers always thought they were girls, no matter what they wore people would go "Oh what a cute little girl!" So I say go for whatever you like.

I go for the boy colour wraps and accessories.
Its personal though, so if you dont mind your little boy in a girly coloured wrap then go for it.

I have two boys. I went with neutral colors partly because I couldn't find any in purple, the only color I am really partial toward, & partly because DH would be using it. I'm not a ruffles & flowers all pink sort of person anyway. I'm a black with color accents sort. What appealed to me was a nice grey green & black striped sling.
Same with diaper bags. My first choice for any sort of bag is black with brown & dark blue or green as back ups. Some pastel bag with flowers or a plaid pattern would so not be me. Of course I never bought an actual diaper bag in the end. I just adapted a few of my existing bags.

I have a brown and pink diaper bag from when I had Walker, that I still use now. I've been through a couple neutral colored ones, but both fell apart :( I was worried about going back to the brown and pink because DH used to refuse to carry it, but I guess he's gotten over his fear and he now carries it for me all the time ;) lol
