I just got Lightroom and I really want to start using it, but I'm having a weird problem and I was hoping that someone here would be able to help.
I use a program that essentially mirrors folders between two drives. This is wonderful, because as soon as I download a kit and put it in my scrap folder, it automatically gets copied to my backup drive and my portable EHD. The problem with writing to the metadata of a file is that it doesn't change the modified date of the file which means the file with the metadata doesn't get copied to the other drives. I could always save the metadata in a "sidecar file", but I really want it embedded in the file itself.
I really don't want to go through the effort to tag all my photos and possibly scrap supplies, then have my EHD go bad lose all my metadata.
Any suggestions?
