AWFUL AWFUL idea! It was like blowing food coloring around..and it says it's washable but you have to SCRUB to get it off your skin and I've got 2 t-shirts pretreated right now :cursing: And the stuff hardly works...we got maybe 4 bubbles per blow.

So...won't be buying that stuff again.

I'm so sorry that happened to you but THANK YOU for letting us know. I thought they would make neat photos but something just seemed wrong about them. And I let my nieces and nephews get messy and have fun but I will NOT be getting those now. evil.

Yeah when I saw that it "washes right out" I was skeptical. THanks for the heads up! Sorry about your shirts! :(

I noticed on the commercials that there was small writing along the bottom that said it may take several washings to get it out of clothes. lol Sorry they didn't work out.

I can commiserate Nikki. I gave them out as prizes at a party recently. The kids took them out back to play and got the stuff everywhere - themselves, their clothes, spills on the grass, a whole bottle dumped on the patio.

I washed the clothes within a couple of hours of the spill and I will say it did come out in one wash. However, I still have a bluish patch on my patio where one bottle spilled (and this was a month ago).

Yeah...horrible idea....Claire LOVES bubbles. I mean LOVES them. We were at Michaels one day and I saw them and thought 'oh how cute!!'. We used them once and they haven't seen the light of day since!! lol

reminds me of edible bubbles a few years back when my kids were little. They blew very few bubbles and tasted like soap...big surprise LOL. They did smell good though (grape and strawberry were the ones we had)

I had hopes of buying them hoping they WOULD stain, if that makes sense. I want to buy them, and blow them at a white piece of butcher paper, so they pop on there in cool patterns and colors. I figured buying them would mean wearing my messy clothes and putting paper down on the deck to avoid getting it everywhere, but I was actually hoping they'd be stainy so I could use them for some funky art.

I read an article on just how bad these things were last week. They mentioned Zubbles (http://www.zubbles.com/) as a non-staining alternative. They only come in two colors though.

I'm glad you guys posted this because all three girls (yes, DW included) saw the commercial and were sold and wanted to go and get them right away. I knew something was sketchy though, I saw the small print, now I am glad I have your stories to back up my fears.

lol I too spent the majority of the day looking out for them at every store I went to...kept seeing empty boxes where they should have been. Guess there will be lots of disappointed parents in my neck of the woods tomorrow while I am thankful for the near miss, lol. My kids are 19, 14, and 12 and still love bubbles in their easter baskets, lol

Another hater here...my daughter spilled some of the green bubbles on my Mom's light colored carpet. We've tried everything - even steam cleaning it and the stain is still there. Also, her driveway looked like a homicide scene after the pink blobs dried dark red. I threw all three bottles away after we used them just once - awful stuff!

So sorry to hear about the nasty stains everyone has had. We bought Zubbles (http://www.zubbles.com/order/index.asp) online and loved them! They work great with no stains! They really weren't that expensive either.

Haha, I think I'm still in the minority. I might start a campaign for you to send me your unused Crayola bubbles. I'm dying for them so I can do some fun stain-y projects! :)

Given everything, I'd still let my son play with it. We'd just put the tarp down and make sure he's in old painting clothes. I think the bubbles would be fun, for supervised, shared play, in an outdoor setting. That's what tarps are for- they can be easily sprayed off into the yard, and if they stain, who cares? It's just a tarp!

That makes sense. To each his own. I was raised with a healthy appetite for making a mess. Growing up, my mom and I decided to re-paint my room using Squirt Guns. Like, the water kind? Yeah, filled them with paint. And painted the room that way. So... things like this just don't seem all that messy to me. :: shrugs :: I can see why it would freak people out. I just personally would probably risk it and let him play with it anyway. I'm considering buying a bunch before they get taken off the market.

have fun. SO wouldn't happen in my house. i've taught my kids to have a respect for things that we work hard for. destroying clothes and possibly even something like the siding on our house or wood on our deck isn't worth it to me *shrug*

Understandable! I just know going in there are going to be clothes that get stained through other various means. Growing up, I actually went in search of hand-me-down clothes that were stained, so I was just extending the life of a garment someone else was planning on throwing away, but allowed me to get messy and explore new mediums of fun. And you're right, it's not worth destroying the siding or the wood at all... I guess I'm lucky in that we have grass that grows (and gets mowed down) that these bubbles would work fine in... luckily, the grass will grow away, and the mess will, too, eventually. I think it's definitely a toy best kept AWAY from the house, of course. But, as I said, to each her own, and if it's something that makes you panic, at least Crayola doesn't make people buy their products ;)

I'd still let my kids play with them too. I don't mind messes. I'd just be more prepared and supervise better than I did the first go around. Old clothes, designated outdoor area, etc.

Exactly... I'm glad I got the heads up about the mess, because clearly it needs excellent supervision, but, no way I'm avoiding them BECAUSE of the mess factor... I think they'd be a great thing for playing AWAY from the house... as in... far far away in the yard ;)

I wouldn't mind the mess (if it wasn't on my CARPET) either, but the bubbles themselves don't blow well either...

Well THAT may be a reason to pass on them, then, in my opinion. I'd hate to buy bubbles that don't really work well as bubbles... that's the point of having, well... a bubble.

It's been brought to my attention that my posts came off as sounding like I wasn't okay with other people choosing not to give their kids this product, or allow their child to make messes.

I want to personally apologize, because that's not what I intended at all. I simply intended to say "this is how I am- totally okay with mess, and you being NOT okay with mess, totally okay, too." I'm not here to criticize others' parenting styles, and I'm not here to say anyone else is wrong for what they choose to let their kids play with.

If my posts were taken that way, I apologize for not wording them better. I should have taken more time to read over what I was saying before it was said, and I'm sorry for any stress, or drama, that they might have caused.

If you don't want your child to play with these bubbles, that's great. I think it's good that you are teaching them to consider their surroundings and not make a mess like that. Personally, I stand on the other side of the line, but I do understand that view, and I'm not trying to say it's bad or wrong in any way.

We have a strict "no bubbles inside" rule, regardless of the type of bubbles. So MAYBE if they went outside with OLD clothes on...FAR FAR away from my house. Then they could have them. :p

I'm surprised she didn't talk about how hard it is to wash off...It's not easy..like I said before I had to scrub DS pretty hard to get it off his face...and even after a rain shower that afternoon my back patio is still stained..I think it'll take the pressure washer to really get it gone.

And like Traci said..they don't work..we got maybe 6-7 bubbles out of about 30 blows...30 messy messy blows. Thankfully, I nipped it in the bud fairly quickly when I saw how messy they really were or i think we'd have ended up with a scene just like that in the blog post lol

Ben got some of these from my MIL in his Easter basket and we quickly discovered that these bubbles were only for Mommy & Daddy to blow...and he could chase them! Thankfully we kept the mess at a minimum because I am another twitchy mama and that blog post had me sweatin'! I kinda had a mini spazz moment this morning when Ben knocked over and spilled half of a container of REGULAR bubbles...thank god it wasn't these!
