I'm heading back to the doctor today.
I fell 2 weeks ago and my foot is still hurting. I can't stand to bear weight on it to take a normal stride...I probably should have gone back sooner but I just kept hoping it would get better. It's got to be either a fracture or a torn ligament..either way I need more than an ace bandage and a "wait and see". I have two busy busy kiddos and this has put a major damper on our summer so far.
Yesterday I had to take Brian for another lithotripsy (he has chronic kidney stones and just had one busted up in January). By the time I got home my foot was swollen again and hurting badly.
But he's had this kidney stone pain for 2 weeks...yes I know it really hurts..but I also know men can be such babies, so even though I can't even walk right I've had to just keep on keeping on trying to keep the house in order and everyone happy. The kids are so stir crazy b/c I can't do much with them outside the house at all. I'm afraid to take them out in the mornings before it gets too hot b/c I can barely walk much less run and Ella knows that..so she could easily get away from me. So they're bored and whiney and DH is about to leave on Sunday for 2 weeks.
I know things could be much worse but we've had a rough couple of weeks and I'm feeling really blue :(

Sorry you are having a rough patch Nikki! I hope your foot gets better and I sympathize with you DH. I had a kidney stone back in 2000 and it had to be surgically removed because I couldn't pass it. It is true what they say....it feels like having another baby. I call it my 4th child. :p

Uggh, I feel for you! It was almost 3 months when I injured my foot before it was normal again. Make sure they get a film when you go back - could be a fracture but believe me, sprains can be painful for weeks or months even. Ask for an Air cast to stabilize your ankle so you can get around better. (It's a special brace used in treatment of sprained ankles).

ughh yea that does sound like it sucks. Kidney stones to me were worse then labor but then thats my experience. I had them get stuck which cause fever and flu-like symptoms so mine were especially bad. It does suck that you both had it happen at the same time so neither one waqs much help to the other Im sure and then with two little ones makes it even harder!!

I'm glad you're going back to the doctor! Hope you can get some answers and some help. How awful that you've been hurting so bad for so long.
Yep, men can kinda be babies. I've just realized that women pretty much hold everything together in homes and families. Even my hubby will tell me that from time to time. So, while it's extremely overwhelming sometimes, especially when you're sick or injured, it really is a great honor that everyone trusts you so much and that you are so needed. (I know, doesn't really help when you're in pain!)

Thanks everyone...so it's not broken. He said that we'll give it one more week and if it's still as bad he's going to order an MRI to check the ligaments. He wants me to wear tennis shoes all the time for support and he put me on a Medrol dose pack to help get rid of the inflammation.
He did make me feel better and really explained how a severe sprain can take up to 6 weeks to heal. Not great news but hopefully in a week or so it'll be better.

I'm so sorry this is still causing you so much grief, Nikki! I've heard a few people who've sprained their ankles that it would have been better just to break it cleanly, at least it heals quicker.
I am sure the meds will help with the inflammation, hopefully you'll be back on your feet soon! Also, I don't think anyone will mind if the house isn't spotless for awhile :)
