I am looking for some big HUGE epic type books to read around WWII, along the same vein as The Bronze Horseman. Doesn't have to be Russian, I just find that I really like reading about that time period in romance, etc. But I like big FAT THICK books, lolol. Any suggestions?

I really really liked Ken Follett's Fall Of Giants. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/fall-of-giants-ken-follett/1018847585?ean=9780525951650&itm=2&usri=ken%2bfollett

Not as much of a love story as The Bronze Horseman but still a good book. Also not nearly as good as Pillars of The Earth.

I haven't read The Bronze Horseman, that sounds really cool (I think I need to add that to my goodreads) I have two books that come to mind, you may already have read them:

Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay

Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

I liked the GLPPS book better, although SK was very good. They are both historical fiction WWII novels and I enjoyed them! They are not as big and thick as you were talking about, more like 300-400 I think...I read them both on my kindle, so it's hard to say, lol.

If you read them, you'll have to let me know if you read them and what you think! HTH :)

Hope you don't mind me stepping in here. Haven't read the book you mentioned, but am interested now. My favorite WWII series has been Herman Wouk's Winds of War and War and Remembrance.

I was going to suggest Winds of War. I think you'd love it!

glad this got bumped ... I was just last night perusing more books to add to my list at Booksfree. I've been lost in Philippa Gregory's tudor stuff lately, and I have The Summer Garden (last book in the bronze horseman trilogy) on it's way ..yay :) but for some reason in the summer I just love big ol thick epic novels.
