i really wish they hadn't.. and for a dumb reason.

I cant stomach the smell. people are constantly setting them off in the parking lot across from my apartment, or in the street, or on the bike path.. i dont care if they burn things down.. i care about the overwhelming naseauting smell they create. i cant take it aaaah :p

they are legal but not this year. We are in a severe drought situation in Texas and have had LOTS of fires because of it so around me most of the cities are not doing fireworks this year. So we are going to Baton Rouge to visit inlaws so we can see fireworks. :pAnd I actually do like the smell.

They are but thankfully we have a burn ban right now, so they can't sell them. teehehe

i.hate.fireworks. The rednecks here get really really really stupid with them. I love to go to professional shows and watch them but I'd love for them to make them illegal for the average joe to go and buy.

fireworks like the ones which go up in the air and explode? or like the sparkler type which sit on the ground and just look pretty like a sparkler? I think the ones which go up in the air are legal but there are alot of regulations. That being said alot of times we are under burn bans and fireworks (even the sparkler types) are banned completely this time of year. I have not checked to see the fire levels right now but we are pretty dry so they might ban them again this year. My problem is not the fireworks this time of year it is the idiots who think it is a good idea to shoot off their guns in the air on July 4th & New Years Eve mainly. It is a very dangerous thing and it scares me to think where those bullets they are shooting could end up

illegal here. but people just cross over into the NH border and buy them there. and bring them back.

the smell has never irritated me. it's the sound i hate. especially when the kids across the street set them off for hours on end. i can handle a few. i like the big fireworks displays at the 4th of july. but home displays just... ugh. fireworks are not toys.

Funny, I was just getting ready to post complaining about this.

I'm totally okay with the pretty ones. You know, fountains, sparklers, smoke balls... but I swear if my brother shoots off one more "pop" thing, I'm going to break his face and his firework supply.

It terrifies our dog. Which is fine, poor puppy, we let her inside and try to keep her calm. But she has been panting. Heavily. For two hours. And crying. Oh, the crying. It's making me hot, and it's seriously annoying. I hate the sound of her licking the floor when she's scared. It just... it's a pet peeve of mine already. I'm on thin ice as it is with the pregnancy... little things I can usually handle, are sending me to my boiling point now. I'm about ready to send her outside, even though it's going to make her even more scared. I just need someone to take her for a little bit so I can breathe.

Legal here...but only on the 3rd and 4th in my city. But outside of town they are already selling them. And the kind of funny thing is that in Nebraska there are quite a few restrictions, so people go across state line to Missouri or Iowa and buy them. The cops sit at the state line on the Nebraska side and randomly search cars for illegal (in Nebraska) fireworks. However, this year its not happening...cause all the places to cross the Missouri river are closed due to flooding. So Nebraska fireworks stands are expecting to do BIG business cause no one can cross to Missouri/Iowa to get illegal ones. The lengths people will go...

There's absolutely no regulation on them here, with the exception of one city because it houses the central business district (and also because their local gov't really put up a fight to ban them). So fireworks are banned there, even on New Year's.

I hear ya on the nauseating smell. I always tear up and feel nauseated after they go off. :thumbdown:

Legal here and the neighbors are making tons of noise right now and it's a weeknight and my DH really needs to get some sleep, so it's kind of annoying. I wish they'd wait until the weekend.

They're illegal here though. There are shows that are put off by different cities and there are some really cheapo little ones you can buy, but not the "good stuff". You can buy those on the Indian reservations here, but they are illegal to set off in town.

I'm pretty sure bottle rockets are illegal here - they must have been ones that had been bought somewhere else and brought back.

Fireworks are legal here between the 1st and the 4th I think. This year we're in the same boat as many other places - it's just too dry to set them off. They've banned them outside of city limits in our county this year. We actually still have some from last year that we never set off because it was too dry then too. :(

They're not legal in Memphis (not that it ever stops anyone lol) except for officials. Completely illegal to sell them in Memphis. Very legal here 40 minutes aways. lol Once June and December hit all up and down the highway are firework tents. You can set them off any time of the year and you only get in trouble if you get repeat noise disturbances. I hate them. I live across the street from a house with two teenage boys and they're always randomly setting them off at night. It drives our dog nuts.

A: State law prohibits the use of Consumer and Display Fireworks in Pennsylvania without a permit.

Items defined as “ground and hand-held sparkling devices”, “novelties” and “toy caps” in American Pyrotechnics Association (APA) Standard 87-1 are not currently regulated by State Law; therefore, their sale and use are permissible. These “non-fireworks” are the only types allowed to be sold from tents, stands, convenience stores, retail establishments and other various outlets not licensed by the Department of Agriculture.
