An Update on Keira, Surgery on Wednesday

We check in to surgery pre-op at 6:15 on Wednesday morning to have Keira's tumor removed.

The surgery is expected to last between 6-10 hours. The tumor is in the top, middle of the liver, so there are a couple different ways he said he might have to take it out. Either take basically 2/3rd's of the liver or just scoop out the tumor, we'll just have to wait and see what he has to do. She could loose a lot of blood, livers like to bleed a lot. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about the whole thing.

She's going to be in the hospital at least 7 days minimum, which is totally going to suck and he said that's if it all goes perfect. And might even have an epidural for her pain control after surgery, which means she'll be stuck in bed for awhile too, I guess we can fight over the ipad. LOL!

And then she'll probably miss at least 2 weeks of school, maybe more. And chemo will be delayed again because of surgery.

One of my close friends had a liver transplant, and I promise you, they bleed a lot, but usually doctors have more than enough on hand to make up for it.
