So, I use both, Safari and Firefox to go online. But recently firefox is driving me nuts. I had it all set up where google is my homepage that shows up first, whenever I open a new window or tab. But just a couple of months ago, all of a sudden when I open a new tab, google doesn't show anymore. Instead it's a search engine that's called "Yeppo" and whenever I use the google search field in the top right corner of the browser, or type in the web address directly in the address field for that matter, as soon as yeppo is done uploading, whatever I'm writing switches automatically and continues in their search field.

I'm just so mad at this thing, because I don't want to wait until it finally uploads, but I also don't want to be interrupted each time I'm typing something somewhere else in the browser. I've tried everything I know to have google show up as my homepage again (and yes, I've checked the preferences) but that just isn't happening.

Any suggestions how I can fix this and get rid of yeppo?

I DON'T LIKE YEPPO!!! :cursing:

Found this. I know it's for Chrome, but you can see if you can adapt to FF and see if it works. Help! My tab goes to Yeppo! (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=7bb5a1e5c9cd281d&hl=en)

That's crazy. I'd totally switch to Chrome. In fact, that is exactly what I did when FF kept ticking me off. ; )

Wow! I should have checked into this a lot earlier instead of being annoyed every single time, lol!

Now, google still doesn't show by default, but yeppo doesn't either, and that is great progress. I can handle a blank page, where I can still use the google search bar in the top right.

And Kellie, I'll be checking into google chrome.

Thanks ladies.

I use Safari. :)

I loved FF on my PC but on the Mac it was SO buggy. I tried Chrome but didnt like it, it seemed like a knock-off Safari to me.

I love Safari for the auto-zip feature - that feature alone is worth its weight in gold to me. The only FF feature I missed was one of the tabelated plug-ins I used but I found a plugin for Safari called Glims that does the same thing and I haven't missed FF since.

Uploading to the galleries with safari more often than not is a pain. Most of the time I have to make several attempts until the upload finally gets through (it just gets stuck when I submit). And it happened so many times (with all of the galleries I use, except SSD, which is funny) that I just gave up trying to upload in safari.

Also, the one feature I like with Firefox is that after I close it, it'll start up with the same websites I've been on during my last session. I like how the recently most visited websites will show when I open a new tab in safari, but those are not nearly as many as the sites that I usually have open (I always have a lot of stuff going on at the same time, lol), and having to browse through the history to find the rest is just too much trouble for me.

Just talked to my sister (who is a web design pro) and she, too, recommended I should try google chrome. So I guess I'll give it a shot.

What's the glims for?

Hmm, that's really weird you've has issues with uploading. I've never experienced that.

Glims is a free plugin that gives you more control over your tabs. So you can change where new tabs open, make it reopen the tabs when you reopen Safari, undo closed tabs, etc. It basically adds in more of the tabs features from Firefox. Here's the link for it: http://www.machangout.com/

I know lots of people love Chrome so I'm sure you'll do fine with it too, I just found for me it wasn't different enough from Safari to give up the auto-zip feature which I love.

See FF is really ticking me off too. I've tried Chrome and Safari (even though I'm on a PC) and maybe I'm just not finding the plug-ins I need?

I love the FoxTabs feature that has all my favorite sites right there for me to see every time I open a new tab. I also rely on ReminderFox for CT commitments (and season premieres), etc. Another one I love is Colt, that allows me to copy link locations/titles to BB code and paste them easily for credits in the galleries.

If I knew what I was looking for, add-ons similar to those listed above for the other browsers, I'd make the switch in a heartbeat!

My Safari runs slower than Firefox for me for some reason. I still love FF even on my Mac.

Here's another Safari question:

When saving a file, how do I get it to ask me each time "where" I want this file saved?

I like to choose each time, depending on what or whose file it is. I don't want them all going to "downloads" etc.

Hm that's a good question. I only know the preferences where you choose a specific place it downloads to each time.

I have it set on my desktop. That way it "forces" me to take care of my downloads (when my desktop gets too messy), or otherwise I'd just keep collecting them until it would be a total chaos!

I am MAC and I use FF. I would rather use Safari but I get stuck uploading to galleries too. It just stops working. So I had to go back to FF. Chrome drove me nuts. If anyone can tell me how to fix Safari and uploading I will switch!
