Like it? Hate it? (we're talking generic crust - not graham cracker or anything else)

LOVE IT!!! My mom makes the best pies (well at least I think so :) ) and she always makes a little bit extra crust - so she can make a few pie crust cookies! just little balls of pie crust that you can dip in sugar and cinnamon. the best!

I voted can take it or leave it. I like pie but I'm kind of meh about crust. If it's done really well I'll eat it but a bad crust can definitely ruin an otherwise tasty pie.

Hate it. I am notorious for eating the pie filling and leaving the crust. Which is odd.. b/c I love all forms of bread products.

not a fan either... I will scrap off the inside filling and leave the crust... although most pies I've had, the crust isn't worth the 100 calories.... lol!

Usually when it comes to pie, I eat the filling and my mom eats the crust. I like crust, but I prefer the guts.

When my mom was growing up, her grandmother used to make a homemade pie crust, brush it with butter, and sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar, then bake, and let my mom have it. It's definitely one of mom's comfort foods, so she usually prefers the crust (isn't a fan of the filling at all!) and I usually love the filling, and could pass on the crust. Lol.

Love! I've worked most of my married life (about 20 years) to perfect making pie crust! I try new recipes all the time! And love ones made with butter....yummo. One of my friends dubbed me the pie lady once! An honor!

So you just ball up the dough and bake it for these cookies? I want to make individual pies with a muffin tin, so I'll have extra pieces of crust, so this is intriguing to me!

My grandma does this! We eat them all the time at her house and they are yummy! Kate....my grandma just "cuts" out the cookie pieces from a rolled out dough, brush on butter, then sprinkles it with sugar and sometimes cinnamon, and bakes it on a cookie sheet. We normally have it with peaches that she has sliced and sweetened. :) SO GOOD

Darcy......what makes your brain work? How do you come up with these questions? LOL

BTW...I voted take it or leave it.

LOVE it!
My dad, only eats the pie crust, no filling (unless it's pecan pie!). So, if Mama makes a pie, she also makes a pie crust just for Dad. lol

Love it - if the crust is done right. I love a crisp, flaky crust! But, there's nothing worse than a soggy, undercooked crust. And, when that crust is on a pie baked by your MIL, and she is sitting there watching you eat it - UGH!

Pioneer Woman has a pie crust recipe in her cookbook that is wonderful - comes out perfect every time!

Yup! You can also sprinkle the cinnamon & sugar on before you ball up the dough (like when you have it all rolled out). When my mom was in town when we first had the baby I requested she make some apple pie & pie crust cookies. It's a family favorite :) Make sure to use the buttery crisco shortening!

LOL Tara - I was looking at these @ Pinterest

and thought - "oh how cute...oh, wait, the ratio of crust to pie is now way off - I'd just rather have the filling." Then I wondered if I was unanimous in this :D

Now I understand. I just needed to know the path your brain took to get to this question! LOL Completely understand though......if the ratio is off that is NOT a good thing.

I LOVE the crust. BUT it must be homemade pastry. I can't stand the crust on store-bought pies. They are never flaky, just thick and heavy.

My mom used to make pie crust cookies with the leftover pastry! I LOVED it! I didn't realize that so many people did that!

I looooove pie crust! But only the good stuff - some people really know how to ruin good crust. My mom used to put the strips that she trimmed off of the pie in a pie plate and sprinkle it with salt and bake it. Yummmm! My MIL puts leftover crust in a pie plate and pours milk over it and tops it with cinnamon and sugar and then bakes it. Sounds yucky but it is a little bit of heaven. I attribute at least 5 of the lbs. on my right hip to her pie crust. :)

Love it! If it's done right and homemade. I use my great-grandma's recipe and it's an oil pie crust - comes out flaky flaky every time. In fact, I made a homemade pot pie one morning this week and made cinnamon and sugar rolled up strips with the leftover crust (roll it out, brush on butter, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar, then roll it up and cut into little pieces). On the way to school, Cheyanne said, "Mom, these are flaking all over the place!" LOL

So anyway, the ratio on those would be perfect to me!

I like the bottom soggy part, but the top crusty stuff I would rather not eat. I normally don't.
