Halloween Costume Help!

so we are invited to a costume party that is Comic Book themed...help me out with some costume ideas that DH and I could be that I could possibly piece together or get from the thirft store....

also the kids might be going with us so throw some ideas out for them {Girl -18, Boy-10, girl-5, Boy-4}

Question. What color of pillowcases do you have? They make AWESOME capes... black for batman, red white or blue for Captain America (even though he technically didn't have a cape, it works), red for Superman... You can also get masks from Hobby Lobby to paint pretty cheaply and paint them whatever color you need. Sweats work well, too, again black for Batman, RWB for Captain America, Superman... For girls, Rogue, Wonder Woman...

You could all go as the Incredibles... They're a FAMILY of Superheroes!

Two ideas:
Normal clothing - Archie comic book characters
A little more effort - some of the X-Men characters wore relatively "normal" clothing. For example, Gambit sometimes wore the official outfits of the X-men (there have been several editions of those) and sometimes not, but he always wore his trademark coat, similar to a trench coat. Jubilee (which could be one of your girls) usually wore a t-shirt, shorts and a long jacket. Emma Frost wears all white (but usually revealing). I dressed as Domino one year (early 90's admittedly) by wearing a black tight outfit and putting black makeup over one eye.
