What size and distance of drop shadow do you prefer when using Traci's slip ins? I'm working with her new freebie and having trouble deciding...

I tried the tutorial for the slip-in's for PSE, but I didn't understand, lol. When it got to the last few steps (using Fill-In & all that). I couldn't see any difference at all.

do you have a drop shadow on the bottom layer?

what the tutorial does is create a clear layer so that only the shadow remains underneath the slipins... and you can see the shadowing in between where the "stitching" is in the slip-ins

Oooooooooooohhhhh! I think I did have a drop-shadow on it. I will try again!

*Maybe mark what you just said on the tutorial? Because I had no idea WHY I was doing those steps, so I didn't know what I was looking for, or what was being changed. I bet it would help others when doing the tut!

ETA: Okay, I did the steps again, so my black layer "disappeared". Now do I just add a layer inside the "slip in" overtop the shadow I just made?

I do the same. I've also been known to manually erase the parts where I want my photo or item in the slip-in to show clearer.

In PS, the best tip I have is to set your shadow blend mode to Linear Burn!

in PS another tip is in the Shaow dialog box to go into Contour (just click on the graph image next to it) and drag the top of the line on the graph to the left until it reads 85%. that will make the center of the element clearer without losing the shadow on the edge.
