Dh and I are both near-sighted so I figured it was inevitable, but Johnny is 13 and I was thinking that maybe he would be the one to escape the fate. Took him for an eye exam this week and he is suddenly blind as a bat! How has he been walking around like this???? He was so shocked when he saw how he's SUPPOSED to be seeing, that he's not even upset about having to wear glasses.

He is convinced that his gaming will improve, LOL! I'm sure it will. Right now my other boy will be like, "Johnny! How did you not see that guy?!" when they're playing COD or something. We didn't realize that he litterally could NOT SEE THE GUY.

He picked out the cutest pair of black Guess frames. He can't wait for them to come in. I'll post a pic... he's going to look adorable!

I remember being a bit younger than him and getting my first pair of glasses. It was kinda inevitable for me, too. EVERYONE in my family wears glasses. But like your son, I was fine one year, and the next BAM. I needed glasses, and I needed them badly.

He will be so amazed when he can see everything! So happy for him. And boy, have glasses come a long way since I was a kid. They are nice and fashionable now! He'll be handsome, I'm sure!

I know... you should've seen the look on his face when he looked through that lens fitting thing. He had no idea everything was supposed to be that clear. Priceless!

My mom knew something was awry when I said to her, "Isn't it weird how everything is fuzzy but when you touch it like this (rubbing my finger on something) it's smooth?"

Uh...

Funny because Cheyanne had her yearly exam this past week too and she has suddenly gone from needing glasses only for reading to needing them full-time for everything! She's 11 - same age her brother got them full time, and I was 12. She, however, will be getting contact lenses in a few weeks because she is just way to active in sports and even the "sports" glasses are not ideal, especially for close contact sports like basketball.

Yeah, I don't think I'll try him for quite awhile with contacts!

DD was the same way when she got glasses last year. She's only 8 now and when she started complaining last year I thought it was because some friends had just gotten them and she just wanted to wear glasses. I felt like the worst mother in the world when I took her and the doctor said she needed glasses! She still loves them though she doesn't have to wear them at all times.

My sister, brother and I all wear glasses. Also, so far, all of their kids wear them as well (all the school age kids, anyways). My husband has amazing eye sight, so I'm hoping our girls will, too.

But, glasses are super cute anyways, I think! lol. Can't wait to see pics!

(Oh, and I always make sure I wear mine when playing COD, too :D It definitely helps!)
