View Full Version : So, who has gotten pregnant after having a tubal?
nesser1981

A week from today will be my 4 year anniversary of having my tubes tied and well, I took 2 pregnancy tests today and guess what, they were both positive.
I hadn't been feeling very good, my boobs were sore and my period should have shown up last week. Ugh!
And, I'm not saying anything on Facebook until I find out for sure on March 9th.

Oh my Vanessa!! I thought I was pregnant a few times even though I had my tubal in 2005, but no positives. I've heard people get pregnant after them though and even when their partner has had a vasectomy as well!
Good luck to you and congratulations! http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e69/LuvMy2Ks/Smilies/bighuglz4.gif

LOL! Is right!
Seriously I go from laughing to crying.
Yes, its meant to be I guess, I looked at a due date calculator and well Oct. 27ish is the estimate. I don't know exactly when my last period was. This is crazy!

i'd be crying. hard. LOL
i would never even put 2 and 2 together though

I'd NEVER depend on a tubal 100% after a year or two...tubes can reconnect or reform as time goes on. I imagine the chances of pregnancy though are probably greater depending on how fertile you were beforehand. Did you get preg with K or C easily?

Keira took like 4 months.
I had 3 miscarriages before I got pregnant w/ Cooper, but it was pretty easy. When they found out I need progestorne to carry, I got pregnant w/ Cooper right away.

WOW Hello!!!! I am super happy for you....
I do know that the chance of ectopic pregnancies are very high after a tubal so please be very careful and get evaluated right away! (common dinner conversation when one of your sisters is a midwife)

Congrats!! I can't imagine what a shock that must be. I do agree with some of the others, ectopic can be an issue here. If you start having any kind of pain please get seen right away.

Vanessa - what a surprise! Hugs to you honey. It will be okay! Maybe it's just meant to be and this is a present. Maybe there is something else going on. Can't they get you in sooner?
I have to say that when I saw the post I immediately thought - who is trying to scare the crap out of Libby. LOL! Libby don't start worrying. Sometimes God intervenes.

Hugs Vanessa! Keep us updated, and as others mentioned get in sooner if you can because of the risk of ectopic pregnancy.
OH my good glory - as someone who had a tubal last week during my c-section, this post scares the daylights out of me (esp since I got pg on the pill this time! LOL)

My thoughts exactly since I had a tubal after Kaylin's birth. I really don't think my body or my psyche could handle another pregnancy. Another baby, yes. I think I could do that and be pretty happy about it - but not another pregnancy.
Hope everything goes well, V. Let us know!

wow, congrats Vanessa!! I bet Keira & Cooper will be excited to have a new baby brother or sister though!
I do know that the chance of ectopic pregnancies are very high after a tubal so please be very careful and get evaluated right away!
I've heard this as well, so definitely be careful! In May it will have been 5yrs since my tubal and I'm not sure what my reaction would be if I got a positive test right now. Probably lots and lots of crying and Rob would probably be wanting to hunt down my OB/GYN to have some very strong words with her lol! Though when she did the procedure she said the way she does it there is absolutely no chance of things growing back together or getting it reversed or ever getting pregnant naturally without fertility help. I can't remember for sure how she explained it but she would only do the procedure if were like 150+% sure we were done having kids.

Holy cow, me too! I had a tubal at the end of Dec. for medical reasons (as in I shouldn't have any more little bebes.) So I hope in my case it stays fixed.
But if you are in a situation where you can have children more, then I guess it's a happy surprise! :) But what a shocker...

Well, if it makes you feel any better, my mom had a tuba after me and my two younger sisters. Ten years later, she was remarried to a wonderful man and they desperately wanted another baby. My sweet, lovable, precious sister Jamey cost my parents $20K when they had her tubal reversed. :) So you kinda saved yourself $20,000 right? lol.
Congrats and I hope you have an easy, stressfree pregnancy.

Dude, that's so crazy. I'm excited for you because sometimes unexpected blessings are the best kind, but seriously it took me a while to be excited for MY unexpected blessing...but I smile now every time I think about how happy I am to be pregnant again. I'll be praying for things to go smoothly, and I hope morning sickness doesn't ruin your trip!

Wow V. I had a tubal about 12 years ago and I thought I was preggo once or twice and I REALLY wanted to be. I got the tubal when I was married to my ex. Then I met my wonderful DH and we so desperately wanted to have one together but no way we could afford $20K to get one. All worked out in the end though and I am happy now even though we never had one of our own. Laddy filled a huge void for me cuz I get to see him grow up with DH and then send him home. ;)
Anywho - I bet it is a huge shock but I agree with the others - I see it as a blessing and something that was meant to be. Can't wait to hear the final news after your dr. visit.

02-24-2012, 02:51 PM
wow, well what a surprise!
My sister had a similar experience. She got an IUD right after she had her first child, and about 7 months after that, she found out she was 4 months pregnant with #2! (It took her that long to put the pieces together)
So even though things work 99% of the time, there's always that' 1% chance :)
