It's kinda' hard to be extremely happy right now, because our family has recently lost a toddler, I have an uncle that was diagnosed with cancer (the final stage) before Thanksgiving, I have another uncle who has alzheimers (he had to be put in the psychiatric ward in the hospital last week,...which is NOT like him if he were in his right mind and living a normal life right now), a brother who is lying on his death bed right now (funeral arrangements have already been made), and my dad is in a nursing home now, because he has dimensia (or alzheimers,...same thing if you ask me). I don't know how much more of this I can take. I had been depressed for a long time, because I had lost my daughter (in 2000...she was 10), and my son died in 2010 (he was 27). My husband and Mom was so worried about me after my son died, that they went behind my back and called my doctor. I thought it was peculiar that my Mom wanted to go with me to my doctor appointment soon after my son's burial (it was just a regular checkup). She said she just wanted some quality time with me, and maybe later we could go eat lunch. Anyway, my doctor got up close and personal with me during that visit (he's not just my doctor,...I consider him a friend, because I am very comfortable talking to him about most things) and I got pretty emotional that day. To sum it all up, he put me on an anti-depressant, and since then I have handled things a lot better. My friends and family have even told me that they can see a change in me...for the better. I do not want to go back to that dark side of my life, and I refuse to go there! Does anyone have any positive thoughts or quotes, etc. that you can send my way? I need a boost! I am continuing to pray about it. I can't believe I have gotten this personal with all of you about what's going on in my life, but I have noticed that you are one GREAT BIG support group when someone needs a pick-me-up.

:( What a load of heart break and hurt you've had to suffer. And so much sadness to carry on your shoulders... Have you ever joined a support group? I would suggest getting involved in some sort of group where others who are mourning or dealing with difficult times can help support you from their own experiences. You know, somewhere you can talk it out with others who completely understand it. I know my church has many (free) groups, but there are groups that meet in many places throughout the community, usually.

That is just way, way so much to go through. But the fact that you are open and writing about it and asking for support means you are also way stronger than you think! I believe you *will* come out of this, as hard as it is to believe now. I agree with Brook, it may also help to find some local support group you can meet with regularly, face-to-face. :)
