This is the first year I'm not watching past the opening and Best Supporting Actress. The Help has no chance of winning film of the year (understandably), and I just have no attachment to anything else this year.

But I do watch pre-show..it's a ritual with Mom getting control of the big TV to watch the one night I care about anything Hollywood.

Who are you voting for?

VIola Davis or Michelle Williams for best actress

George Clooney for best actor

Octavia Spencer for best supporting actress

I'd love to see Jonah Hill for best supporting actor..he was so good in Moneyball lol

either the Help or Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for best movie

those are my choices :) We are DVRing i can't stand commercials

I just got done watching the preshow, I usually watch the first half hour or so for the awards, then I wait for the DVR to get far enough ahead I can skip the commercials, lol.

I haven't watched it in 20-something years, with an exception to see if LOTR: ROTK won big, which it did. But that quote is perfect LOL...and one of the main reasons I don't watch any awards shows. I get tired of seeing a bunch of spoiled primadonnas get up and pat each other on the back.

I dont think I have seen many of the movies that are up for awards and I really do not watch it often (often meaning I may have watched a couple times in my while life LOL).

I've got it on DVR so I can watch it tomorrow when no one else is home. Most of the movies I haven't seen, but I still like to watch anyway.

I am rooting for Gary Oldman to win best actor and I absolutely love Meryl Streep! I hope she brings it home.

Not a fan of ANY awards shows, even though it's kind of part of my job to watch what the women are wearing. I only caught a bit of the beginning because I was with friends and they were watching.

I'll probably look up who won tomorrow online.

I love watching :) this is the first year in a while that I haven't seen the majority of the movies. Most years, I try to see as many nominated movies as I can, but I just couldn't get motivated this year. Having said that, I was glad to see Octavia win, and I hope Viola wins, too.

I'll be honest that I have no idea what films or actors are even nominated...but I am really bored right now so I'm watching. I'm enjoying Billy Crystal and some of the presenters.

I wish I could have watched but it only started at 2.30 am my time. This year a Belgian movie (Bullhead) was nominated for best foreign movie, so it was very exciting for us, but they didn't win. :( That movie has my favorite actor in it: Mathias Schoenaerts. http://filmmadammen.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/matthiasi.jpg

I'm voting for Angelina to gain some weight!!! Other than that, it was on, but I didn't pay much attention and went to bed before it was over.

I think she looked 10xs better last night than at the SAG awards..

I agree -- I thought she looked awful.

I watched the whole thing and was a little disappointed that the Artist took so many awards. I tend to think it got so many votes because of the novelty of it -- a little gimmicky in my opinion. And, of course, I was outraged on behalf of my main man, George Clooney who so deserved Best Actor for the Descendants.

lol, Dawn - I felt the same way about Viola - even though Meryl Streep is my favorite actress, she just did another rendition of Julia Child..Viola deserved it more.

I was saying the exact same thing about The Artist last night. They mentioned the last time a silent film had been nominated was 1938 or something like that and I'm like, yeah, for good reason - because we have sound now. :D I just don't see how a silent film is relevant to today. But then again, I don't usually agree with the Academy's choices so who knows. I was disappointed to see Meryl Streep win over Viola Davis though. I'm sure Meryl was amazing but it would have been nice to see someone win not for playing another real-world person.

Great points, girls! You made me laugh with both of these.
