View Full Version : spin-off of the self-portraits thing

Um...naughty? or bedroom type shots for your hubbies and SOs? Anybody do those? I do. I have some ideas and tips I could share there, too, but um...not with the general public. :o
But I'm always looking for ideas in this area. It's really hard to just google pose ideas because, well, it's the internet and we all know what sorts of stuff we'll see when we google anything remotely related to the topic. There's a big difference between a tasteful (but still provocative) photo for my man and the vulgarity that I have to sift through for ideas.

How bout the man's shirt pose, with nothing underneath, some serious cleavage and thigh and messy, sexy hair. That one got me good reviews from a SO. He said a lot of the appeal was the tease factor. I didn't really show anything, but he knew. :)
I generally hate any type of self portrait, but I'd be interested to learn how to do those better as well. Men are so visual.

I have taken some in the past but I pretty much refuse to now. Only because I'm uncomfortable with myself. ;)
Hopefully I'll get more comfortable in my own skin b/c I know he'd appreciate it. lol!

That is a winner. I took some like that over a year a go, but I should definitely revisit it. Maybe even go buy some cheap stiletto heels just for pics.

I actually did a whole series a month or so ago. I was inspired by some stuff from pintrest, and needed a model, so....I became the model. :)
Actually one of the only photos of myself-ever taken that I love.

Yeah. I'm super self-conscious msyelf. If there is an angle that gives me a fat roll on my back or makes my bewbs look overly saggy, they go to the rubbish bin. I have found certain positions and good lighting really, really help with my flaws.

Some shots that I've done that were mega popular with the hubster:
The men's shirt and nothing underneath/cleavage shots
The profile of one side of my body lying on the bed with the sheets covering up all the treasures. A woman's curves from the side like that are lovely, and I don't give them much attention normally.
Me with a big cable-knit style scarf covering various parts of my body. The most popular was one where it is just sort of laying across my hips and I have one hand just sliding down underneath it. Boys really like that whole notion of girls touching themselves. Crazy.
I took some sucking on a popsicle. And wow. If you didn't know it was a popsicle...

I have, but not recently. I will probably try to do some more in a few months. Losing 45 pounds has helped in the confidence area but I still have a ways to go. My husband doesn't care but I definitely do. I took some in front of the Christmas tree one year and they turned out really nice. Of course, its been 8 years since I looked at them so they may have only seemed nice at the time. LOL

So here's a question, if you take them do you just leave them on the laptop to be veiwed on computer only? Or do you print them off in house to give to them? If they're on your computer do you password protect them so the kids don't accidentally find them. Geez, I'd be nervous that a picture would somehow show up in a slideshow at some family event :o But I know DH would love these. So this topic totally intrigues me!

I've had little books printed for DH. The last set I did, since it was a photography project and I want to do some of that type of photography, have been printed off. I will put them in a small album and kept in my office, for when 'those' types of inquiries come in.
If any of you want to see them, I don't mind giving the password via PM, I just don't want them available for all of internet-land & under 18 that happen to visit my blog, if ya KWIM. (And my body is FAR, FAR from perfect or tiny and I am FAR from being self-confident...especially in front of the camera)
If you're going to do them, think about what you feel like your best assets are, what you want to show off. Set aside time to doll up before hand, who doesn't feel better about themselves after getting all dolled up. Don't face the camera square on. Take LOTS of them and something will work and your DH/SO will love them, even if you feel like it's silly. :hugs:
And heels, some DIY glitter heels, could be super hot! http://pinterest.com/pin/122019471123837679/

I took some back when we were doing fertility testing and IVF... because Mark wanted to look at me and not some magazines that would make him totally uncomfortable... it was fun and he loved it... I should totally do it again... I do have some issues I feel like I need to just get over with... like the sagging skin and boobs from the pregnancies and c-sections... but I suppose since she's always grabbing and pinching and wanting some action... that I probably should just get over my issues because he's still totally attracted to me even with the sagging skin and boobs...

Amen sister! I've never felt less sexy in my entire life. 3 kids, twins, 2 c/s later. And I saw serious cleavage mentioned a few times. And if you have NO cleavage these would all seem a lot less sexy. Not to mention my husband is in the best shape of his life with solid muscle everywhere and I'm solid flab.

Ooh Lexi, great link!
This girl (http://www.theboudoirvixen.com/blog/?p=2355)has a real body with curves and looks pretty good. I also have the c-section, 40 y/o boobs and stretch marks to deal with. Plus I'm short and short-waisted, so I feel like I have way too much cleavage and not enough length to give me a sexy waistline, but I work with what I've got.

I do it. And the texting it to him at work is the really fun part about it!
My fave one ever was me standing in front of a window - facing it, my hair is long and it was curled and cascading down my back and I am looking sort of to the side and down and I am removing an elegant gown. The gown stops rights at the small of my back. DH LOVES it and actually either wants to have it airbrushed on his motorcycle tank or hung in his office. :w00t:
I have done the heels shots and done boots too. I am not super confident about my body either and stopped taking pictures for about 3 years when I got to my highest weight but I am actually starting to take them again the last 6 mos.
I love some of these ideas!

I told myself that, single, married, engaged, whatever, when I get to my goal weight, I'm booking a budoir shoot. I don't care if the pictures sit in a drawer forever for no one to see... I think that it would be a fun, confidence-boosting shoot.
The only downside is that it's the ONE shoot I can't get super affordable because my best friend (photography student who takes some AWESOME portraits) is NOT someone I'd ask to do this kind of shoot. I think he'd be really freaked out if I asked him, and I think I'd be too freaked out to ask him. Lol. I need to find a good FEMALE photographer for this task!

Get a cheap tripod and use the self timer or better a remote if you have one. You also can't really mess it up - just shoot tons of pics and pick a few you like - the rest can be tossed :) Also if you have a iphone, the arms length and front camera so you can see yourself / the angle while you're shooting is REALLY helpful. You wont get full on professional boudoir shots like that but you can get some pretty hot results.
TRY it girls - it's really fun!

Although I do have photoshop and I am PRETTY good at using it. lol I really just need to get my butt in gear and tone up my tummy and I'd be happy.
Anywho enough rambling. I have a board on pinterest of boudoir shots that I want to do. I told my bestie that I need her to come over and man the camera for me. I'll set up everything, all she has to do is press the button. I've also thought about just using my tripod and remote.
But first I need some new underwear and lingerie and some white sheets. (what kind of a person doesn't have white sheets of any kind? THIS GIRL!)

I laughed my butt off at first of every single time I tried to do a for real serious, sexy pose because I'm just not the stereotypical sexy type. I have some of those shots, but they make me giggle at myself. I have some of just my body with no facial expression to deal with that are easier, and then I have some playful things that are also funny but meant to be that way to start with, so the silly expressions and stuff are at home.
There's a bit of self-discovery in doing this. It helps me to define what I find as sexy and what he finds as sexy. We sometimes end up in fits of laughter because what might work for others doesn't work for us. Other times, he rushes home from work if at all possible. It's just a fun, new chapter in our lives that I'm thrilled about.

Really though, DH tells me every day how sexy I am. I shudder most days when he says it because I just don't have the confidence but I'm sure glad he feels the way he does. :)
That said, our 14th anniversary is in May. I might try to do something for him. A friend of mine did a book for her husband and it was just body parts done provocatively... nothing revealing at all, all rated PG, it was that which was implied that was sexy.
Other times, he rushes home from work if at all possible.

That said, our 14th anniversary is in May. I might try to do something for him. A friend of mine did a book for her husband and it was just body parts done provocatively... nothing revealing at all, all rated PG, it was that which was implied that was sexy.
I think the implication gets men reeved up more than blatant nakedness, especially from their wives or SOs.
I say you should go for it for an anniversary present. Don't worry too much about arming your self with a lot of props, just go in with the knowledge that you are loved and desired and let those emotions show through. I'm sure the results will be stunning.

I think I might feel too embarrassed trying to pose and stuff, like it would be very obvious that I am trying way hard, lol.

There's a bit of self-discovery in doing this. It helps me to define what I find as sexy and what he finds as sexy.
^ yep!

Lynn Michelle is a phenomenal boudoir photographer in the DFW area (she and I used to shoot weddings together and she's an all-around awesome gal!) and she has a blog FULL of eye candy. Lots of ideas there - check it out (http://lynnmichelleboudoir.com/)!

The whole idea of self-discovery is precisely why I wanna do it! and Nicole and Krystal, you should consider making it the theme for your collab, lol! Who knows, maybe that kit will be what'll spur women to give it a try! (either that, or buy more lingerie, who knows?) :D

One thing I wanted to add that may or may not be relevant to your own situation, but I think the element of surprise has been key to making this fun and workable for me...to get past some of my anxiety and self-consciousness.
As I get older, I learn more and more about just how men are wired and think. If I even remotely hint at the possibility of taking pics, then his over-active imagination is going to kick in and he'll create all sorts of mental images and fantasies that would then just completely crush my adventurous spirit because I'd be sooooo worried I wouldn't live up to them. So, yeah, I totally have to keep it a surprise or I'd chicken out.

I totally agree with you there. I've been following along, trying to decide if I've got the guts to try this or not - I'm loving all the links to inspiration!!! I know dh would love it, but there's no way I'd tell him ahead of time - too much pressure trying to live up to what he'd imagine.:o

Or just get DH involved, let him be the 'director'. Then you're sure to get shots he'll love. :) We've had many photo shoots over the years... just not many since we had kids. Good thing we had almost 8 years together before the kiddos.

This totally reminded me of back when I was on Traci's CT and someone shared what they were doing for their husband for Christmas. There were lots of happy husbands then too, including mine. :o

And no way am I going to tell my hubby about any of the things you lovely ladies have put into my head... but I am thinking about our anniversary coming up in June. (NeeNee, it's our 10th, too!)
