I am sooooo excited!!! In exactly 2 weeks, my sister & her family will be living here!

My sister is one of my very best friends. I lived with her & her DH for about a year after I graduated, before I found a room-mate and then eventually got married to my DH. During that time we realized how much we had in common (we are 10 years apart in age, weren't very close when I was little), and we quickly became very close. After DH and I married, we moved away from BC, back to Saskatchewan (where I was living before - our parents are here), and were now 18 hours away from my sister, her hubby & kids. The move practically broke my heart... we used to see each other 3-4x a week, for coffee, visiting, shopping, scrapbooking (we both paper scrapped), etc. After I moved, we would see each other 2x a year if we were lucky.

ANYWAY. My sister & her DH have been thinking long & hard about moving from BC for a couple of years because cost of living is so high, and my sister wants to be close to family (his family was the main reason they were staying, but they've all moved away), and they have no desire to move where his family went (even MORE expensive). So she said "My turn!". They bought land out here & will be building a home just a couple blocks from DH & I!!!

I am SO excited! SOOOOO EXCITED! I can't wait till they get here!!!!

ETA: They've had land here for a year now, sold their home 6 months ago, and are finally moving now. The way I worded it, it seemed like this was a rush decision, but it's not. It's been 2 years in the making, and they are FINALLY moving, lol.

How exciting!!!!! My sister is my best friend too. She lives in Colorado and I in Michigan, and we're always talking about how wonderful it would be to live near each other. It just won't work for either of us to move at this point though. I considered it a couple years ago because I miss her so much.

I totally get your excitement!

That's wonderful! I wish we had family closer. My entire family is 5-6 hours from here, but they're all within an hour or so of each other. My parents are great about coming to visit us every couple months and we go up there when we can, but they all see each other every week or two and I wish my kids and I were part of that. DH's parents are gone, but before that they were across the country so we only saw them once a year.

That's awesome Jaedyn! I would love to live by my SIL, we have that kind of relationship (and the same age gap). I have two brothers who both live within a mile of me but we aren't really close and they only contact me if they want something and only answer my calls when they think I am going to do something for them.

So happy for you Jade. My sister is my best friend too. About 10 years ago she was relocated for her job and it was terrible not seeing her. When my company announced it was shutting down 7 years ago, I made the decision to look for work near her in Indiana. I quickly found a better job and now we are now only 30 minutes apart and I love it. We talk almost every day as we both drive home from work. My brother is my other BF. I'm super lucky to be part of a close knit loving family.

I'm so happy for you! I'm close to my two sisters, and my two brothers too, but half of them have moved to Australia. Now it's only my youngest sister (and her family) left in New Zealand with me and our parents. Hoping our older sister and family will move back here after her husbands job finishes in a couple of years.

That is sooooo exciting! And I am sooooo jealous! ;)

My 2 sisters are my best friends and I live 1300 miles away from them. :( Thankfully we all work for the same company so I email/chat/talk with them almost every day. But we don't see each other very often - at the most once a year and usually longer than that. :crying:

So fun that you'll have your sister so near you!!
