Talk to me about El Paso. All I really know is it's West Texas, almost New Mexico, almost Mexico. I'm moving there in a few months and want to know what there is to do and see there. Anyone live there?

I *think* I have family there but I do not know for sure LOL. I know I do in Roswell. I want to go visit my family in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico one day. Other them that I have no REAL memories of living there. I remember it being hot LOL and I do not remember it being as green as it is here in Florida. Ive been here since 1979.

Is this something you are excited about or not so sure about?

I'm excited about the move, but nervous as usual because it's a big move and it's complicated. I move every few years thanks to the military but its always a new adventure.

I've driven through it a couple times. It's big - I know that. And there's a major airport - so that's convenient. There's an outlet mall towards the New Mexico border that we go to every once in a while. There's a zoo there, but in my opinion - it's tiny compared to the ones I've been to. And we're going to a little water park called Wet N Wild in a couple weeks. I guess it's between Las Cruces, NM & El Paso (I honestly thought El Paso was right across the border into Texas - but I guess it's called Anthony TX - serves me right for not paying attention, lol).

I don't know much more than that. I mainly stick to Las Cruces. I've only been near El Paso a few times. And then mainly for the outlet stores (there are quite a few in the little mall they have there for them). I would love to do more in Texas - just haven't done it yet. I'll be watching this thread to see what else people say :)

Brittney, did you guys like Bliss? Jer was there for a few weeks back in 2000 for training exercises when he was stationed at Huachuca, but that is the sum total of our experience with the area. Did you guys live on or off post?

We lived in both. We started off post and had loads of problems with our apartment. So, they moved us on post tothe really old crappy places. Theyve torn those down, and now have some pretty nice places on post. I had bad luck/care with the hospital there too. However, the px/comm. was nice! There's a Small small zoo that's not worth your time. White sands is much more fun. And weather was almost always dry, blue, sunny days. I adored the weather! There is a neat reniasinse festival in Las Cruses in he fall. And they have pumpkin fields too. So you can take hey rides and go pumpkin picking.

I'll be watching this thread. Ft. Bliss is on our list for our next move in 6 months. We'll find out if that's where we're going in a couple of months.

My husband did basic training there, he loved it. That was *many* moons ago though, but I don't think a ton has changed. From what I hear it has a smaller town feel.

Oh it rarely snows. Even on Christmas it is warm. :) there use to be a LSS on the far side over the mountain. I worked therefor a bit teaching classes they were super nice! They have all the normal stuff Walmart, target, baby's r us even.
My kids were too little and did not do school, sports,or much like that while we were there. If you get a chance to go to one of the live fires at White Sands go. It's neat! We got to go once. My son loved it.
We would totally go back! I'd liveon post if we did. But I love to live on post at every post we go to. :) HTHs.
