i left home today at 5:50am hoping to catch an early train so I can be at work at 7:30 (and leave early to miss the bulk of the storm this afternoon)

Needless to say, I picked a wrong day to be early. My 6:10 train did not move after 1 stop (ONE!!!) and waited for the next one to push it. (GREAT!)
At a very slow pace. What would have been a 45 min train ride ended up, being 3 hrs 10 mins.

For the first time in a LOOOONNNNGGGG while I got to work, at 10am. (so much for getting in at 7:30, LOL!) I was 1.5hr late. People were looking at me as if I got 2 heads.

Now it's 12:30 by 2pm the offices will be closed and it's time to ride the same train back home. If you dont see me around here 3:30, that means I got stuck again in between downtown boston and home.

Last Dec. I waddled in a foot of snow for about 3 miles to get home.

Let's cross our fingers I don't get that anymore.

I know there are some of you who lives west and more north than I am and may have gotten worse.

Of course Im just a very whiny and long winded person.

Thanks for listening! LOL!

Oh that's awful! I hope you make it home quickly!

We're near Philly and got a few inches, but it's supposed to be followed by freezing rain soon, so that will be the worst part. Thankfully they cancelled school so I don't have to worry about my 1st grader making it home after the ice starts.

Oh I thought it's school break this week.

Kids were spared here in Boston. Just the regular working people on the roads. (or in my case in the commuter rails)

Oh my goodness - glad we don't have snow here. If we did - you can bet I would be calling in SICK whenever it snowed big lol.

We didn't get the snow until about 8am so I made it into work fine. I live in NH but work in MA. I ended up leaving work at about 10:30, went and picked up my kids from school since I really didn't want them on the buses and came home, all of that took about 2 hours total. My normal drive takes me about 35 minutes so all in all going to two different schools and a stop at the grocery store in a snow storm wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Now it's getting much worse out there so I'm glad I went when I did! Sorry you had such a hard time this morning!

We got diddly squat and I must admit that I'm bitter. I really hate the weather here (just north of Baltimore). I'm a NY'er and I miss my snow dangit!

The whole STATE closed schools, and we didn't even get anything. It was sending down freezing rain all morning, but the weather is hovering around freezing and the roads are too warm. So even when the ice hits the road, it melts! Plus they put down about 50lbs of salt per square inch of road, so it'd take a LOT to actually do anything.

But still. I want my snow. :(

I'm hoping it gets all this out of it's system up there in RI (friend is near providence, town called Warwick, know it La?). A bunch of us are all meeting in Atlantic City tomorrow for an evening of fun, and if it's still snowing she won't drive (is terrified of driving in the snow).

lol how can you be from the north east and be terrified of snow :D :D RI is really tiny.. :D of course I know where warwick is LOL. Is she flying? The snow isn't usually that bad down on that end. It's picking up here now.. but I'm like 45 minutes north of her. (It's still not really that bad)

She said it was really bad, lol. This morning she said she had 2" within about 45 minutes. They went home early cuz the roads were bad.

She's gotten into like 2 or 3 accidents in the snow, and her little car is not good in the snow either. So she basically has an anxiety attack. Luckily she works with her roommate, so the roommate drove in the this morning, lol.

If it stops by like 6am I'll be happy. She should be ok with that, lol.

And for real, I'm way jealous. We didn't even get enough to cover the grass.

we're getting a yucky snow/sleet/rain mix now LOL I really doubt it's going to carry on much longer.

It isn't awful here but we did get quite a bit of snow - I'm in Illinois. I am actually happy to have it - it looks pretty and tomorrow I can throw the kids out to play! And take pictures of course......

lol how can you be from the north east and be terrified of snow

Lauren, when you total a car in a snowstorm because of some other jerk, have to go to PT for months and still have neck pain from it 6 years later you understand the anxiety. I have always driven an SUV and drive a pretty big one now but I'm still terrified to drive in the snow.

oh no I totally understand that.. It was a careless comment-- I was just being a goof ;) Thankfully all of my accidents have been on dry pavement.. but I know how "not fun" it is to be spinning out all over the place and what not-- add an accident to that and driving is just not on the top of your list of things to do that day!

Lauren, no worries, I have lived in MA or NH most of my life and have always hated the cold and snow but driving in it wasn't an issue till my accident, now I'm just a huge whimp!

Gloria, where in Boston do you live?

We love to visit the Commons and Faneuill Hall most Mother's Day and Father's Day every year! We also have a favorite restaurant called the Sunset Grill and Tap that is on Brighton Ave in Allston. Have you been there?
