Bwahaha! I have so much more respect for newborn photographers now! It's like a one in a million chance for me to get her not looking like some form of an alien, lol.

I really need to get her while she's asleep because I'm running out of time for that super deep newborn sleep, but I'm always so scared to move her! Anyway, when I uploaded these pics today, it made me giggle and I just wanted to share with you gals.

hahah - too cute! that's hilarious! i was so scared to take newborn pics of matthew (and mine were nowhere near professional) but he was my REALLY deep sleeper, so he didn't mind being jostled a little. i wasn't brave enough to try actual poses though...i really really cherish sleep and hate to mess with it!

lol! Maybe you can set up all your stuff where you want to photograph her and then when you get her to sleep put her there and maybe that will work?

Of course I have like zero good photos of Ella when she was a newborn for the very same reason..once she was sleeping I didn't want to wake her up lol

LOL!!
I had saved so many inspirational newborn photos when I was pregnant with my boy and I have taken second to none... Same reasons. I do regret that now!

I love it! Yeah......I would totally wait until she is asleep and not use a flash (afraid to wake her up). I think we have all fought this obstacle. You will eventually get some good ones. :) BTW, your boys are precious! I just want to give them a big ol' hug!

She's precious.

And that's exactly why I will be hiring a newborn photographer someday. Those shots are HARD to get. lol.

LOL! My newborn shots are far from wonderful! I just took hundreds, and eventually there were a few decent ones. Some of my favorites are from when I draped the infant car seat with a nice blanket then put them in it. But I always took more awake photos than sleeping photos. I regret that now because other people's sleeping baby photos are so cute, but the best poses are on their tummies, and I was too nervous to let mine stay asleep that way and too unwilling to mess with sleep to do it for a few minutes then move them.

They are adorable! I use those alien like photos as bribes for good photos now. My girls will pose nicely after the threat of more alien photos loom.

Im a newborn photographer, www.elzeephotography.com

I can give you some pointers! Get her really full! the more full she is the better she will sleep. Have the room warm, we use space heaters. Have a white noise maker, I have a app on my phone. If possible have someone there to help you. Lastly be patient!

All three are just too cute!!

My babies never slept soundly enough to pose while they were sleeping. I always marvel at those pictures of the sleeping babies in all the different fun poses. Mine didn't sleep sound unless they were in my arms. LOL

hehe I had to show you these pictures of Chloe that my friend (a photographer) took the night she was born. There are seriously like 20+ in this short little 2 min period here. When you see the one cute one it makes the others that much funnier:

Ha, my very first ever scrapbook page (in paper) was a cut out of my son's alien head trapped in a space ship because he looked like an alien. I took pictures whenever and wherever I could get them. All three of them are adorable!

Awwww! That is exactly what my babies looked like in a ton of the pics I took of them, haha! Unless they are really sleeping, and until they start smiling well, it is hard to get a good baby face look :)

LOLOL, Kellie! :D That just totally cracked me up. Newborn photos are so tough! I am looking through the ones of DD when she was tiny and the majority are like that one, slightly alien. LOL. I didn't have the time to devote my attention to photographing her all the time.

I will say that my photographer friend gave me a few tips. If baby is rooting on her hands or her hands keep moving and stretching up awkwardly, swaddle her for pictures. Another trick is when they are calm, lay them on their belly and take pictures. They often fall asleep when they're on their bellies... so that's a bonus. ;)

hah, that is too funny! I don't have kids and would never say this to my friends with babies, but yes, sometimes babies can look like little aliens! but they can also be pretty adorable too :)
