Quiz coming soon.

Coming home from the mall the other day my husband and I see these two people jogging. One was a guy wearing a muscle shirt. So he was totally fine and covered and all. The other girl was wearing cheerleader type shorts (IE like barely there short LOL) and a sports bar. The sports bra barely contained her. Now I have no proble of exercising in a sports bra AT HOME but um I think hte fact it has the name BRA in the title means it is underwear not outerwear. I mean no offense to any who disagree I am just curious if anyone else looks at it the same way. My husband being the man that he is said oh there is nothing wrong wearing that. I said so you'd be ok with me out jogginh in similar outfit? To which he answered H*LL NO!!!

So what are your thoughts? Yes /no / maybe

Back before I had kids and was in MUCH better shape, I often ran in a sports bra and shorts on really, really hot days. Now, there's no way I'd do it. ;)

Depends on the size of the woman wearing it. My 16 yo could wear it while jogging and I'd be OK with it. She's thin and fit and why shouldn't she? She bought it in the workout section of the store, not the bra section.

If I wore one while jogging, people would be pulling off the road to vomit.

Yup, it you can get away with wearing it as a top...do it up! A sports bra is way less revealing than a bikini top, and holds the girls in. I think it is appropriate as a top.

Yep, I'm a prude that way, but I think people should be a bit more covered up. I have complained about this same thing before.

I'm with Kara, Kim and Jenn... they sell them in the workout section... not in the lingerie section of the stores... I think it also depends on the "bra" too... the one I have actually looks like a bra so I wouldn't wear that without another top... but when I was fit and pre-pregnancy I would have totally worn one of those sports "bras" over my real sports bra :) and yeah... they cover way more than many bikinis I see on the beach and it is sooooo uncomfortable to run with a shirt on... not just sweat but the chafing is awful :(

I used to wear one as a top when I went to the gym or out rollerblading before I had kids. I never felt like I was wearing a bra as clothing. I wouldn't now, though, because my abs are not what they used to be. ;)

I'd totally wear one out in public if I was thin and tan. I was always jealous of the girls in the gym who could wear them. Maybe one day.....

if the girls werent so big and I looked cute in them I would totally wear it alone.

I voted it doesn't really matter to me-if someone is running then they are already beating me...I don't really care what they wear.

I don't mind seeing them on someone when they're working out/running/jogging. I would however, think it a bit weird if they wore one with jeans or something out somewhere :D But I think since I see them more as workout clothes, it doesn't bother me.

I think of the sports bras more of workout wear than lingerie or undergarments. I wouldn't be caught wearing one out in public without something over it but I'm also fat and almost 40. ;) I wore one as a top when I was skinny and 20. :)

Sorry but this thread has me cracking up because I remembered this from Seinfeld:

"It's not a top, it's a bra."

And yes, I know this is not a sports bra. Still funny. ;)

Oh, and I had to laugh at your husband's reaction to whether or not he'd want you wearing that. My husband would TOTALLY want me out wearing that even though I think I look like crap. For some reason he seems to find me irresistible, flaws and all. We'll get ready to go somewhere and I say I need to put on a bra (cause I just don't like to wear them around the house some days) and he'll practically beg me not to. No way am I going out without one. LOL

It depends on the situation and who is wearing it.
If they are working out or working in the yard, etc. doing something that merits wearing just the sports bra, and have the body to pull it off, then fine. But if they don't have the body, I'm a fan of covering up.

Yeah, that's one thing I hate about The Biggest Loser, you can totally tall they aren't comfortable being on public television with a sports bra on

and Jessica, we must shop different places because even Target and Walmart all have them in with the active wear and not in with the lingerie

I'm pretty small, but wear only a sports bra to jog outside in the middle of the summer. Its bloody hotttt! The less clothes the better to me. I don't have a lot to jiggle and my sports bras cover a lot. Its taken me awhile to get comfy enough to do it again since I had kids but I just over heat if I wear too much. 100+ with 99% humidity and nothing is moisture wicking enough as running in just a sports bra. Of course I also wear them in the sprinkler with the kids. I don't like swims suits as my sports gear covers more. I would never wear one to a store or something though!

I wouldn't ever wear one as a fashion piece,to the store or out and about, but to exercise, even in public, yeah I do it.

I have no problem with it, its better then some bathing suite tops. I will wear mine too once I get my abs in check after having my two kids!

It really depends on the style.

LOL Heather I really only buy bras at Target. I have a certain brand/type they carry which are super comfy. I see sports bars near where I buy mine. In the sporting section they may have a very small selection there....Only reason I look in the sporting section is get yoga pants or cotton capris to wear for "loungewear" around the house that I would not be bothered running to the store in a hurry in.

If you're skinny enough, to be comfortable running in a sports bra then I don't care...it covers more than a bikini! LOL
