Just wondering what everyone has planned for Father's Day this year.

Our daughter Katie (13) leaves for sleep over camp in N. Carolina on Friday night so she won't be here for Father's Day this year. So we're actually going to celebrate the following Sunday when she's home. However, my MIL called and asked us to come visit so we'll be driving down to Miami on Sat morning and then back on Sunday night. I'm sooo not thrilled, but my hubby likes to spend time with his family (I do too, just not 24 hours of visiting and 10 hours of driving) and hopefully I can get him to his favorite BBQ restaurant for a meal while we are down there.

So what does everyone else have planned???

I think we are heading to the zoo. We have a membership so we go a lot during the year. The boys love going!!!!

Father's Day is tough for me. My Father passed away in 2004 and for the first few years after his passing I was a big baby and pretty much crawled into a hole until Father's Day came and went. When we had Aiden I had to find my big girl panties and realize that the world doesn't revolve around me and my hurts so I started going all out to make the day special for Hubby and Aiden. Making big plans and keeping busy helps me to focus on them and not dwell.

So THIS year I bought my husband this really nifty GPS watch. It's totally Inspector Gadget like awesomeness! I printed off a bunch of info about Geocaching to put in the package also because believe it or not he has never heard of it. So I thought we would go out on one of our regular hiking adventures and give that to him while we are out and about and see what we can find. I always cook one of his favorite meals and Aiden and I made him a really awesome crown that says "King of the Castle"....lots of spoiling etc etc.

Hubby wants to go out for Mexican food that day, so after church we'll go for a late lunch. His restaurant of choice is right on the lake, so if the weather is nice we'll go for a stroll and enjoy the breeze.
We are also planning to go renew our zoo pass, but we avoid the zoo on both Mother's Day and Father's Day...any time they have free admission it is overcrowded and parking is miserable.

Dusty wants to go to the lake, but he knows I hate it so he asked if we could go to Buffalo Wild Wings.

We'll probably wind up at the lake b/c it's his day, not mine, lol!

Um, I will tell ya...........I am at a loss for plans. My hubby is no help. He only suggest stuff that is NOT family appropriate (catch the drift?). Yea, so not helpful dude.

SO, I am at a loss on what to do for him. It doesn't help that 3 days later I got to come up with ANOTHER gift for our wedding anniversary. UGH!

Well I am shocking - all those cards I make and I think I'll have to go to the shops and buy a card for my Dad as I have no time to make one and I had kind of forgotten it was this weekend!

My kid's dad will out of town for work, I feel kinda bad about it. But kiddo will get to spend the day with his grandpa, so I am sure he will be making grandpa's day. I am betting they will BBQ and go fishing.

I dont have a clue. I've been recovering for the past 2 weeks from surgery and still can't eat food right now so I dont know if we will go out. I asked him what he wanted for Father's day and he said he didnt know. So helpful, dear.

No idea. We're doing father's day the following sunday w/ my family. I'm going to try to get Jeff a Sears GC and put together Heather's toolbox to put it in.

DH wants a day of peace and quiet, so we're going to let him sleep in and do his own thing all day. That probably means lots of sports on tv, some time sitting and reading at a coffee place, and an afternoon nap. He'll get to choose what we do about dinner, and I'm guessing he'll want to order in. We're giving him a new MP3 player because he lost his a few months ago and has been using my purple one since then. I'm pretty sure the one he lost was last Father's Days gift, LOL.

I asked him what he wanted for Father's day and he said he didnt know. So helpful, dear.

That's DH's answer on 99% of gift giving occasions. Grrr.

My DH always asks for the same thing "peace and quiet" and he never gets it. Not sure what we are doing yet. My own dad is gone, so it's always a bit of a sad day for me. :(

We usually do a BBQ with the family. Kyle gets gift certificates at Home Depot from the boys.

My husband is getting a new desk that he picked out, and since it's so close to Father's Day I'm saying that is his gift. I do want to make a candy jar for his desk as a gift from Logan. So we'll head to the craft store later this week. As for what we are doing... ?? I don't know. My husband likes to go to a local waterfall for a hike on Father's Day, but it's soooo busy on the trail that I don't want to do it. Maybe just him and the boys will do it this year.

I don't have a clue what to get DH for father's day... we are flying back from Florida on Sunday... last night while at Downtown Disney, I had him hold a "happy father's day" bear... and I told that his father's day gift was that i was NOT going to buy that... hahaha... he doesn't like me buying things for him... :D

Mine tells me not to worry about fathers day. And well with my dad gone I never like that day much. This year he's in the field so whenever they let him come home I got steaks in the freezer to grill. I'll man the grill and make the sides and maybe have the kids write him notes/make cards. That's about as far as we will get. He prefers peace and quiet. Day of sleeping in, ipad in bed, tv, etc.

Oh mannnn I am SO bad about Father's Day. My birthday is on the 18th and it's always been shared with Father's Day for as long as I can remember... so I think I kind of resent the holiday. Overshadowing my birthday and stuff! So not cool. :p Yeah, I am immature about it. LOL! :D

I always mean to do something big & special but June is such a crazy month for us. DS's birthday on the 14th, mine on the 18th, and practically every friend we have was born in June. This week we have 2 parties. And last week we had 2.

I have NO IDEA ... my kids are old enough (24, 18, 16) to figure something out but they are clueless ... and the only present I know dh wants we can't afford right now as he wants to get the outside of the house painted ... he wants some software for the CNC machine he built ... the software is $1,200 ... for a machine that he uses as a hobby. acckkk! ...that's not a computer even ... it's software!!

We have dog training class in the middle of the day on Sunday ... we got invited to my sil's house for father's day (for dh's dad) ... but he NEVER EVER buys his dad anything or even gets him a card ... and we can't go unless they change the time to before or after the dog training. ...so no idea what we will do ...

hmmm wonder if he would like the movie "battleship"?? Maybe the boys could take him to see that ... hey ... has anyone been and is it any good?

I think my goal for today is to make hubby a father's day card from me ...
