Seeing that quilt reminds me of the ones my grandma used to make... and how my mom and her sister would point to different patches and say "I remember that outfit" and continue to tell about said outfit and the adventures they might have had while wearing it.

Awesome quilt!!! Love those colors!

Gorgeous! Love the colors! I used to be an avid quilter but the last one I made was a quickie quilt for my DD's bed a couple years ago. I really want to get back into it so thanks for the inspiration!

Gorgeous! My mom quilts, but I have never done it even though I sew. I sure admire anyone who can do it though! Great job!

OMGosh that is so pretty. I love it so so much. Seriously. I want to learn to quilt. That and knitting pretty much the only craft I cannot do (knitting Ive tried. Quilting not so much). (but those colors are so pretty together!!)

Tanyia!!!! LOVE IT! I love making crib sized rag quilts as baby shower gifts, but I just love how that quilt has the rag effect outside of a larger block. Did you use a pattern for it? If so... point me to where I can find it. That would be perfect for my DD's bed.

I didn't actually Brook... I decided that I hate binding quilts lol and it is just too cumbersome for me (still learning) to quilt bed sized quilts on a home machine. So when I design the layout I then break it up into larger blocks ... this time I just did 3, 20 inch, squares per row and did 4 rows of them. Then I can baste and quilt the 20 inches and just rag quilt it together and it is SO much faster and easier. Any design can be done that way... I have one on my fb, the brown and orange one, that is a rag quilt but I did a disappearing 9 patch block style with it :)

thanks for all the kind words! <3

Oh! I totally get it. I am doing this. I also hate binding! Doing it in smaller chunks like this is perfect for me. So, I'm guessing you didn't use batting? Did you just add a layer of flannel or what?

This is so pretty - love the way you combined traditional quilt style with the frayed edge style =)

That quilt is beautiful! Love the colors and rag effect.

Any of the ladies who are wanting to learn how to quilt. I taught myself using the Quilt In A Day Series by Eleanor Burns (books). I would highly recommend. She used to have a show on PBS. Don't know if she still does.

No, I did use batting.

I made the 20 by 20 squares, then made the sandwich lol flannel backing, batting, and top. Quilted, then sewed together :)

I always use the warm and natural batting ... for some reason I just like it more, plus its a nice flat fold and easy to cut and sandwich :)
