So I've made the decision that with the start of a new month coming up I am going to try this program again. I've started it a few times before but I've yet to make it past the end of Week 3, lol. Would anyone here be interested in doing it together? I'd love to have some extra motivation!

For those of you that don't know, Couch to 5K is basically a running program designed to get you from couch potato to runner in 9 weeks. You can see more about it here (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml). And to make it easy, there's free podcasts (http://www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/podcasts/podcasts.html)you can download that do all of the timing with music for you.

So anyone up for some fun? :D

I wish I liked running. I really really did. But I hate it. But once it gets a little warmer here I do plan on taking Tigah-now on lots of walks during the week.

I've never gotten past week 3. Oh well maybe I only tried once. I might give it another go in a few weeks. Right now my knee is bothering me since I tripped and fell yesterday.

I will start and do it with you!

I'll do it too. DH has been bugging me to get back on the treadmill. My health choices have been sh**** the past few weeks. Seriously bad.

hah you got further than me..I did d/l the podcasts last time then got pregnant so i stopped that. I do love to run though it's my workout of choice and a great stress reliever..I might pick it back up after the baby when I get the ok from the dr to work out lol

Wish I could join you - I can't get past speed walking because I have stress fractures in both my legs (from years of basketball). I've always wanted to be able to run and maybe do a mini-marathon, but...
At any rate, I wish you and the others who join you much luck, especially in getting past week 3...

OMGosh! I started this morning and I am now DYING!!! My girlfriend (who is is pretty good shape) and I went to the track at the Jr. High. I jogged/walked 4 laps and she ran the whole thing. But I finished in 12 minutes - which isn't too bad. Then we walked over to the gym and did a mile on the ellipitical and some abs and upper body stuff. I have already taken an 800 mg. motrin so hopefully I will be able to walk tomorrow... I AM GOING TO STICK TO THIS. I have to keep reminding myself that because we have a cruise in a little more than a year and I want to be in good shape by then.

I did pilates today cuz the wind is FIERCE. So tomorrow Tigah-now and I will go for a walk/jog. She need the exercise almost as much as I do, lol.

I was going to go out today, the sun was shining. I stuck my head out the door, and almost froze. I checked, it was 12F. So no, I didn't really want to go LOL!

I'm hoping tomorrow is warmer!

ColleenSwerb

Note to self: find a new route to do. When you're this out of shape, jogging uphill is not so cool. UGH. I only made it about 15 minutes of the jog/walk before I wanted to die, and walked the rest of the way home. Going out is easy, cuz it's downhill! Lol! Coming back, not so much fun/easy.

I am REALLY going to need to stick with this program. I can't believe I let myself get so out of shape.

Wow, I'm impressed with everyone that started! Way to go! I just did Wk 1 Day 1 today, yay for me!

I totally here you guys about the hills and the cold. I run at the gym on the treadmill. It's hard enough with the thin air here (we're at over 6,000 ft above sea level here), the last thing I'd need would be to add hills into the mix, LOL! There's no way I'd do it outside in the cold either. My DH has to go run every morning with his Army unit and this morning he said it was 17 degrees when he left - no way I'd go out in that!

i did wk 1 day 2 today. Glad to have that out of the way. I'm sitting down now and I know I am going to feel very stiff when I try to get up.

No hills or freezing temps for me. Just one very flat treadmill.

I want an elliptical for the house, but the fiancee says no. I "want" too many expensive things, lol. IE: DSLR, new laptop, new car, renovate the master bath, etc etc etc, LOL!

I'm supposed to go pilates today but I'm in the worst mood ever. So I'm sitting down with a drink and a new scrap magazine, and then I'll scrapbook the night away. Wk1 Day2 comes tomorrow.

I didn't jog today but I did walk at a pretty fast speed for 45 minutes. Better than nothing... I had a 5 year old on a scooter trying to keep up with me pushing the stroller....

Best of luck :)
I did that last year, ended up running 2 5k races.
I'm going to try for a half a marathon by the end of this year.

Tuesday was supposed to be day 2, and it was pouring.
Wednesday my ovaries were trying to vacate my body so I didn't run.
Today, I had to run errands.

So, I'm starting over this weekend. We're going to the Penguins vs Capitals game on sunday, so I'll run on saturday, and then monday and wednesday.

I started over today with week 1 day 1. Last week was just not good for me. Plus, I refuse to run in the rain. I did enough of that when I Was growing up with various sports practices. I refuse to do it as an adult, LOL!

I re-started again yesterday. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill (10 warm up, 20 jog/fast walk and then a 10 min. cool down). Then, stupid me, I let my BFF talk me into doing more! I did 30 minutes on the ellipitical and then did abs and upper body weights. At least I'm not as sore as I was after I did this last weekend...

I actually went to the gym tonight to work out but they were having an open house so it was packed and there were no machines open. So, I got my body fat tested  and had a sample of the Thai Body Work Therapy (AWESOME!!!) done. I will be hitting the pavement after work tomorrow...

last wenesday I decided I would grab a work out tape from my SIL, Turbo Jam, anyone heard of it? well I did the "fat blaster" version and the next morning, and to this day I still can't walk right! LOL, man my knees are sore, my hip hurts, don't think I will be doing that one again! I have been walking though, maybe I'll try something else, LOL!

It's looking like a friend and I will be doing the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk this october, so I might end up stopping this program. We'll see though. You train 3 days a week for that too, so I might just do it on the days I don't run.

I'd LOVE to join in on this but living in PA - it needs to wait until April. No way am I going out to run in 20 degree weather LOL. I even have my almost 15 year old volunteering to do it with me. It'll keep me motivated and give him and I some one-to-one time.

I love readingwhat you all are doing daily! My goal is to get a lot skinnier and buy a new swim suit this year. I've had the same one since just after my almost 15 year old was born!!!! Crazy I know!!!! (and I don't look anywhere near decent in it!!! LOL)

I really suck at this... I've been doing it twice a week but last weekend we went camping and it was raining so I didn't run. Now I can't breathe due to my allergies and I'm taking Claritin, Flonase, and Sudafed & Benadryl at night only. I really want to work out and turn this flab into some muscle but gosh I feel like crappola!!!

I walked 3 miles yesterday for my 3day training. I'm thinking my tootsies can't handle 3 days of walking and 3 days of running. So I'm gonna have to skip this I think. But I'll be walking at least 9 miles a week (more as time goes on) until October. After the walk I'll probably never walk again :p

I did my 3 miles yesterday with Tiger. It was a little too exciting for me, lol. (Check out my blog post from last night) I'm hoping tomorrow's walk is a little less exciting.

PS~The wind was pretty rough yesterday here too LuAnn!
