Can you share with us pictures of your hybrid projects that you put on canvas? I'm so intrigued and I'd love to see something to make it more clear for me!

I made these a SUPER long time ago.....I printed the pics out on inkjet canvas and frayed the edges, then scanned in some paper I liked (can't remember the name or who made it though!!) and printed that on the same canvas paper. I used a large flourish stamp and printed the quote (don't know who said it though!!) This is the result:

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd16/my4boys_01/todaywelllived.jpg

Not a very good picture, I will take some close-ups later and post them. I recommend that everyone try this, it is really cool and fun!!!

PS: The BG paper and the stars are from Traci & Manda's Silly Little Monster Kit

Those are cute Christine!

Ok here are a few of mine, when P gets home I'll take pictures of the rest...LOL

Here's the first one I did back in March 07 which is solely paper products..kinda came out crappy but I'm in the process of revamping it...the papers are from Michelle Coleman's Fancy Pants line and I painted the canvas to match, with Prima Flowers and I altered that R too...the canvas is 18x24 inches so it's pretty big..

http://www.tracireed.com/images/canvas2.jpg

Then I made a word one for Karsten which I think is 2 12x24" canvases with 6" or 8" wood letters I painted it all free hand and then when back and cut up some adhesive sparkly paper and put some rub ons on the letters

http://www.tracireed.com/images/canvas1.jpg

I made one for Jo too but will have to take a picture when P gets home...

These two I made to go with the new Bam Pop (http://www.bampop.com) stuff that I'm going to go buy when it comes out and do a few altered canvases with the actual paper products. I freehand drew these from looking at his images to go with specific papers in his line, then I painted them :) The robot one was taken mid creative process, so that's a lot messier than the finish version looks...both went up in the boys room as will the other canvases...

http://www.tracireed.com/images/canvas4.jpg

Then here are my two most recent canvases, which are much simpler than the other ones I still need to take pictures of... I painted the canvases to match the pages, then all I did was print out 2 8x10 layouts and adhere with modgepodge...very simplistic :) I used Dani's Love Struck and My Ain't No Sunshine kits for these...

My other digi altered canvases have much more "alteredness" to them with paint and paper products and stuff, so I'll be back with those in a couple hours :)

Sorry to be dumb, but can you elaborate more on the last two? They are my favorite!

I'm really struggling to get my mind around the whole process. I guess I'm too far removed from the tactile aspect.

On that last layout, is that frame digital? If so, where can I get it?

Traci Reed
03-01-2008, 07:11 PM
the last two are just 2 8x10 digital layouts on an 8x10 canvas, directly glued on there, nothing else...

The frame was a freebie I found somewhere...lol...sorry

Traci, I love your canvases, great job on all of them. I do believe you have inspired me to make more.....

I am working on doing silhouettes of each of my kids too...that will be fun

Traci, that's awesome!

Do you mind if I borrow that photo to post an ISO for a frame like that? I really like that frame.

It would figure my favorites were the most "digital" of the group {rolls eyes}....how "vanilla" am I?

Your work is very inspiring!

Do you just have those canvases hanging directly on your wall? What did you use to adhere them to the canvases and what did you spray overtop of them, if anything?

Sorry for the 20 questions, I've always snubbed my nose at hybrid till a few hours ago :p

aww thanks :)

Lena, I don't mind :) The canvases i buy are stretched and mounted on wood so they have a built in frame that you can just hang off a nail...like this...

Here are my other 2 and you guys got me all worked up about canvases I started 3 more! LOL

Here's Karsten's, a 8x8 digi LO on a 12x12 painted canvas with rubons applied around the edges (sorry about the crappy pics...it got dark!)

http://www.tracireed.com/images/canvas7.jpg

And here's Jo's....same concept, a bit messier with the paint :)
