I was reading a bit back where some of you had ordered new Dell Laptops. Did you get them yet?? What do you think?? Which ones did you get?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 with a 17" widescreen display. I LOVE mine, only thing that I would change would be the color (I wanted pink but since I have to share with hubby, we chose blue) and would have gotten the most hard drive space I could have (hubby seems to think I shouldn't be able to fill up 160GB of space, but it's so easy to do with my scrap stuff. hehehe)

I love mine! I got it in January, and I've never been happier. I was worried about not liking Windows vista, but I haven't had any trouble at all.
I just made sure to get a nice big screen, lots of RAM (cause Vista is a memory hog), dual-core processor, and I can't remember what else. All in all, mine was about $1800 after some discounts, but it was worth every penny!
Because i'm so bad at remembering what I have, here's a screen shot of my system info -

I have had mine since May of 07 and love it too. All I can tell you is it is a Inspiron E1505 and I DO NOT have a pink one ( as much as I want one!!!) My hubby surprised me with this one so I guess I should not complain. I have a DVD burner and a lot of other bells & whistles too  We also have a Dell desktop that is still running great after 5 years and a million RPG games and Sims crap on it...I would highly recommend Dell to anyone.

I guess I'm the odd man out, but I had nothing but trouble with my Dell laptop and the replacement they FINALLY sent me after having the same power outage problems 4 times in a row! I have an HP 17" now and love it.

Nah, don't think you're alone Heather! Kristin got one a while back and had so much trouble, she returned it and then bought a Mac, lol...

Both my Dad and Fiancee are in computers, and wouldn't let me buy a Dell if I paid them, lol. They both hate Dell, but I have no idea why. Bad experiences I'm assuming.
My fiancee is thinking of a Sony Vaio or an HP for me, sometime soon I hope :P My HP from college lasted forever, it was a great machine.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 (http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1720?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19) (in PINK, of course!). :) You can read lots of reviews through the link. I LOVE mine- it has all the bells and whistles (that were worth the cost differential) and will definitely grow with my scrapping addiction for many years to come. :) DH builds computers as part of his job and always recommends Dells (funny there are so many different opinions from the geeks). LOL

here's where I got my coupon in January:

Looks like they are all % right now, but sometimes they are $200, $300 and even $400 off.
I got an Inspiron 1520 (had to get one with XP because of my work) and I'm loving it so far! I've also got a desktop that I got 3 years ago that hasn't had any problems.

Oh me TOO. I thought I was the only one. Mine was a disaster, a total lemon. It is in my laptop bag, dead, after losing the hard drive for the second time, and I refuse to spend another cent on it. I lost the mother board, 4 power cords, and the 2 hard drives. I have spent almost as much fixing it as I did on the laptop itself. So I am saving slowly for a Toshiba at my computer guru's recommendation.

I've been a dell customer since 2000. My latest purchase was March last year with a dell 1405. Basically, 2GB processor, 2GB RAM, 80gb ehd (which is tiny nowadays) - basically same system aggie got recently, bluetooth, internal wireless, vista etc etc.
Aggie paid 800, I paid 2200, que horror! for this laptop that's souped up repackaged 1 year later with almost the same specs and she even got a bigger hard drive and a webcam with her.
Performance wise, Im happy. i've havent had a problem with it.
Don't break anything on it though. They have horrible customer support and the service for parts is ridiculously priced. (that's how I learned to ebay parts online and replace them myself, if i need to)
