I feel like an idiot because the whole thing just confuses me :D
What is the restack button for on each layout? How do I make my own categories/boards that I see others have?

The restack button is just like repinning a pin. That is your opportunity to stack maybe a layout you want to save to use as inspiration or a kit you want to add to your wish list.
To create new stacks, you can use the red ADD button and where it says Scrap Stack you can type in a new Stack or use one you already have. That's how I create a new one anyway.

Thank you Carrie! I was missing the red ADD button piece of the puzzle! Geez, I guess I need to get some more sleep or something! :D

You aren't alone Marie - it took me a bit to figure out how it worked too :)

Okay, I have my stacks created according to what categories I want, but I still can't figure out how to actually REstack a post from the main board to my category! I feel like I'm beating my head against a wall! :D
When I click on the RESTACK button it takes me to what looks like the same page I used to upload my OWN layouts not RESTACK someone else's layout...
Ugh, I will go away for a while and see if someone has taken pity on me and explained it :D

That's right. It allows you to rewrite your own comments to remind you why you restacked it. Under the Video URL box, there's a Scrap Stack box. Click on that, and select which folder/stack you want to put it in. Add a description if you want one then click save.

Thanks Jacinda! I swear that I tried that exact same thing but it kept rejecting it... I wonder if traffic was too heavy and it wasn't letting me restack? I just tried it again and it worked just fine

What is proper etiquette for restacking - type our own comments to it or just leave the original stackers comments?

I've seen people doing both - adding own comments and leaving it the same. Is there a way to go back into the layouts we pinned and edit and leave our comments. It will quickly get out of hand for me and I would love to go back and add why I re-stacked it in the first place.

Feel free to shoot your questions my way using the contact link at Scrap Stacks. I'm usually pretty quick with a response, and if I know the questions people have, it helps me decide what "tip" posts to write for the blog. :)
Marie - if you didn't have your Stacks made, or if you didn't create one when you were trying to reStack, you wouldn't have been able to add it to your stacks - does that make sense? I think that was your issue. I think I'll create a getting started post with screen shots.
Laura - I don't think there really is an etiquette to follow: the original poster will know it was reStacked, so I think if you want to add something as to why you reStacked it, that would be fine.
Lindsay - yes, just click edit. You should be able to edit the post.
