I've been cleaning out my hard drive and came across some of Janet's double-page templates that I had forgotten I even had. I never used them I think because I wasn't sure how to save them for printing. Do you "cut" the template into two 12 x12 pieces once you're done with the layout and save them?

That's what I've done. I make a left and a right. I usually save the original 12x24 one just incase I make a mistake!

Yepperdoodle! I work the thing as a whole because it's easier for me - then cut it down to save for printing and gallery uploads.

I think it's a personal preference!!! You can cut them before you start scrapping (which is what I do) or you can cut them after you scrap them!!! Just what ever feels right and/or comfortable to you!!!

Marie, these are directions a mentor sent me when I was learning. You probably already know this but I thought I'd post in case it helps somebody!

1. Make sure you have a .psd file saved with all of your layers (in case you find a typo later you can go back and fix it.)
2. Go to Layer, Flatten Image. All of your layers will merge into one. You might get a question about whether you want to delete hidden layers - respond yes.
3. Then, I usually save my entire page as a single .jpg file. This may be overkill, so you can delete this step if you need to preserve hard drive space.
4. Open a new 12x12 image - just a blank, 300 ppi white page
5.Go back to your layout. Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (second from the top.) In the tool bar, set your style to Fixed Size, and your height and width to 12 in
6. Click down the crosshairs on the very top left corner of your layout. You should get marching ants around the left half of your layout.
7. Click CTRL or COMMAND C to copy this selection.
8. Switch to your new, blank file.
9. Click CTRL or COMMAND V to past your selection into the new file.
10. Save this file as a .jpg. I usually name it something like Ultrasound_left.jpg
11. Delete the top layer that you pasted onto your new file, return to your layout and repeat steps 5-10 on the right side.

I felt this way for a long time...I didn't know how to save it. But, got it figured out eventually.

I open the whole thing and scrap it as normal. Save it as the psd. Then I flatten, sharpen, and resize and save the whole thing as a jpeg for galleries. Then I go in history and go back to before I sharpened/resized, and then crop just the left side by holding the shift down while I crop to get the perfect 12x12 square. Then sharpen and resize that side and save as a normal layout. Then I go into my history panel and go back to before I cropped it again. Then I just repeat only crop the square on the right side.

I scrap the big wide one and then cut the jpeg!

I actually do what Elizabeth does...I have a mental block working with it as a 24x12 LOL!
