I'm reading Game of Thrones, and I am lovin' it. That said, I'm only getting close to the end of book one and I feel  at how HUGE these books are. I honestly think it's the largest series that I've tried to tackle.
I attempted the Outlander books but got bored in Book #2. I dont think that's going to happen here, but you never know.
So, what's on your current and upcoming reading lists?

I started the invisible bridge in december but I had to stop because I had been on a WWII reading frenzy and it was starting to depress me a touch so I haven't been reading anything.
A kate morton book came available for me (I was on the waiting list) during the holidays but I missed out so had to get back in line...
Reading: nothing
Going to read next: whatever comes available for me on my hold list at the library ;)

Just finished: Casual Vacancy by J.K Rowling
currently reading: Tilt by Ellen Hopkins (I have read every single book she has put out, she is just amazing)

Jenn, when I first read your currently reading title, I sorta maybe might have left the L out it initially. I did a total double-take there for a moment and thought you were more scandalous than I originally thought.
How was Casual Vacancy? I read the cover and it sounded kinda dull compared to what we know of JK so I didn't know what to think!

Misty! I love that you have books you're reading with your kids. Do you actually sit down and read WITH them aloud or are you guys just reading the same book at the same time to yourselves and then discussing it? I'd love to start doing this with my oldest even though my youngest probably needs it more because he hates reading.

My daughter doesn't read independently yet, so those are books I am reading to her. It really varies with my son. Sometimes I'll read the whole book to him, other times I'll start it and he loves it so much he takes over and starts reading it on his own. In those cases we both read on our own and discuss it. Other times there is a book they are reading in school and he asks me to read it too, so we can talk about it. I love that.

Going to read Next: Death Takes a Cut by Janice Hamrick
Next: Not sure, I went 12-15 years without reading any Star Wars books & I'm really liking Scoundrels, it's reminded me what I liked about them, so I'm dithering about going back & reading some of the ones I have missed but they are so hit or miss with quality & plot because they have so many authors I haven't made up my mind. I suppose I'll see what catches my eye at the library on Thursday.

Penny - I've heard the same thing about Outlander book 3 but I think I may have grown out of the series in my heart, so I dont know if I'll go back.
Darcy/Lydia - I LOVED the Book Thief. It's been awhile since I read it, but yeah, I really really enjoyed it!
Loved The Maze Runner, read it a few years back when it was the only book in the series out. Still havent started (or finished) the other books in the series but I am bad about that. I havent finished the Hunger Games series either.

Keely - I love Jasper Fforde!! The whole Thursday Next series is so good and the Nursery Crimes one is a lot of fun, even if I did miss some of the allusions, like the guy who snips off kids' thumbs for sucking on them.
Wolf Hall & Bring Up the Bodies were wonderful. I'm eagerly looking forward to the last book even though I know Cromwell comes to an unfortunate end. Never thought I could find him a likeable character.

The Stand by Stephen King
One of my all time favorites.
The Book Thief
I love this book so much. I have bought so many copies to give as gifts. I talked Keiran into reading it recently and she wasn't sure at first and ended up really loving it. I like the story a lot but I love the language and the way it's written, just beautiful.
A Discovery of Witches I enjoyed it but didn't think it lived up to the hype. I'll still probably read the follow ups from the library.
The Hobbit
Love. The majority of my pets growing up were named after Tolkien characters.
Atlas Shrugged
I was almost named after a character in In We The Living. I've read quite few Ayn Rand books. I'm keeping my lips zipped LOL
Gone Girl
That book was kind of crazy. I like that it was pretty ballsy, those characters were cray cray. I actually like Sharp Objects better.
Game of Thrones
Love these books. They are kind of an investment but I love them. I like the HBO series too but I like the books more, so much character and plot meat.
Wolf Hall
I wanted and thought I would love it, sounds right up my alley, but I just couldn't get into it. I borrowed it from the library and let it expire before I finished (rare for me) I may give it another go because it really seems like I should love it LOL
Outlander
Tried, couldn't do it. My mom thinks I need to try again. I keep telling her when she tries Here Be Dragons again I'll give it another go.
The Jeff Resnick Mysteries
May have to check those out.
Kate Morton since you liked the Thirteenth Tale.
Really enjoyed The Thirteenth Tale so I think I'll check out Kate Morton too. TY!
The Hangman's Daughter
Enjoyed the first two and will read the new release. I love that these have been bargain books LOL
Jasper Fforde!! The whole Thursday Next series is so good and the Nursery Crimes one is a lot of fun
I'm going to put some more Jasper Fforde on my list. I thought the first Thursday Next book was a lot of fun.
Some of my top books for 2012

I was actually disappointed with The Night Circus. I had heard a really interesting review on NPR so I was excited to read it. I think what bothered me the most was the switching back and forth between time frames. A little bit is good but I kept having to flip back to figure out where I was.
Currently reading Susanna Kearsley's Shadowy Horses. I absolutely inhaled her other books but I'm not as captivated with this one. It might just be that life is a little crazy right now .
Not sure what I'll read next. I have 50 or more books on my Kindle that I haven't read. I did put The Book Thief on my To Read list at Good Reads. Sounds awesome!

LOL I'm also reading G.R.R.Martin. Finished Game of Thrones yesterday and started Clash of Kings.
I enjoy the Medieval England feel of it a lot.
I admit I was scared of the length myself - because I was afraid it was one of those endless(ly boring) sagas that are typical for some bad fantasy authors. I'm happy to say my fears were not grounded. So far. :-)
Let's see how I like the other parts.

I think you either love The Night Circus or you hate it. I loved it...I thought the imagery was just beautiful and worth reading for that alone. It took me a few chapters to really get into it but once I did I raced through the rest.
Game of Thrones is one of my top 5 series ever. Martin just absolutely amazes me with the world he created. I mean..it's just incredible with the number of characters and plotlines. And FYI...don't get discouraged with Book 4 - A Feast for Crows...A Dance with Dragons more than makes up for any lagging in Book 4.

I admit I'm a very picky reader, I find one author and I tend to stick with them until I get through all (or most) of their books before moving on to try and find another. Right now I am stuck on James Patterson books (and at the rate he goes I will never need to find another author! LOL). I am currently reading 4th of July, the 4th in the Women's Murder Club series, I really enjoy this series and have grown rather attached to the characters. Before that I read his first in the Witch & Wizard series, I really liked that because it was a light read since it is geared towards both young and old readers. I am eager to go on to the next one, but my son is reading the first now, so I'm just waiting for him to catch up so we can discuss it before moving on. :) As for the next and next and next, I'd really like to get caught up on the murder club series so I can be sure excited to run right out and get the new one when it comes out!

Hate to tell you this but I have over 150 'to be read' books on my iPad. That's how far behind I am and that's how often I see recommendations on my facebook! Anyway, currently I am reading Into the Hollow by Karina Halle (http://www.amazon.com/Into-Hollow-Experiment-Terror-ebook/dp/B00A6VTQH6/ref=tmm_kin_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1373606912&sr=1-2). It is the 5th book in the series I think. And then I need to get into Inferno by Dan Brown (http://www.amazon.com/Inferno-Robert-Langdon-Book-ebook/dp/B00B1AHNVC/ref=tmm_kin_title_0). So much reading to do!
