i asked on fb earlier tonight, what's the one element if it's in a kit that you HAVE to use it.
so...now...
i wanna know the flip side of the coin.
what one element in a kit do you tend to just skip over?
or maybe you run away from it in fear :p

I don't use buttons a whole lot. Usually only if they are already attached to something or a space on a template. I really don't care for buttons that have nothing stitched into them.

For me it would have to be either swirls that are not stamps or paint and layered wordart (the ones that combine alphas and fonts). But generally I am pretty equal opportunist.

Always Use: Stitches & buttons (especially if they are stitched on)
Never Use: Clothespins or big bulky fasteners... I might have used them once and decided I just lacked the ability to make them look right! :p

Buttons kill me... I can barely ever use them.
I always use flowers and greenery.

I don't use too much lace or doily type items. I also struggle with using stringed tag type things - although I often manage to include them!
Love buttons, word art, splatters, ribbon, antique postcard imagery, and anything metal!

I don't think I ever use staples or binder clips and I also rarely use the messy stamps or paint. I like the stamps and paint but have a hard time incorporating them into my layouts.
I love buttons, flowers, foliage, and word art.

Flowers. And no, I'm not scared of them, I'm just not a flowery person and my boys are not either, so I don't scrap with them as a general rule.
Love buttons, but only if they are threaded. I'll skip them if they are not threaded. ;)

I usually skip over big bulky things - things that don't look like they could actually be attached to a page, kwim? They work for fantasy layouts but that is not my thing. I also tend to not use animals or people elements - of course there have been times I've used them, but not often.
*editing to add that my statement about animal ellies is not entirely true- I do almost always use butterflies on my pages when they are there!

Journaling cards and any sort of doodles of people.

I hardly ever use frames. I think it might be because my pictures are never the right size.
And the secret to using buttons without string is glue dots. On my paper or hybrid projects, I never sew the buttons down; I adhere them with glue dots. I think of digital projects the same way.

Must use........anything metal. Staples, wire, ect. Love it. I am also addicted to stamps, spatters, paint.
NEVER use......anything that I would not normally use on a paper layout. For example.....a real life shovel that has been extracted. I just can't get it to look right.

I don't use buttons that aren't threaded very often since my invisible digital adhesive doesn't work too well on them. ;) I also don't often use bows (typed boys the first time, LOL). I like bows that have longer tails or curled ends, etc, but just a plain simple bow with short ends leaves me not sure what to do with it. I want a bow with presence!
I used to have a really hard time using flowers, particularly realistic flowers as well as anything else that you wouldn't put on a traditional paper scrapbook page. I had to change the way I think and consider the pages as a canvas on the wall instead of a page in a book. When I think of it that way, those large 3D items and realistic items are easier to use.

LOL I just posted about how my digital adhesive doesn't work very well on buttons. ;) I use them in paper layouts just fine without stitches or string, but on digital they just look odd to me floating there without something to anchor them.

Hmmm I will use almost anything once but I have a habit of not using frames most times. Not really a fear of them, I just tend to skip over them most times.
