A while back someone posted about a place where you could send your pictures to be scanned...I believe you send for a box and then send the box back with your pictures...Could someone post the website?

They upped the price for the "fill this box with as many pictures as you humanly can" option, but I still think it's totally worth it. I'm going home to NY next weekend and planning on starting another pile of photos to send out. :)

you used the service, col, right?
i don't have nearly enough pictures to possibly need to do the 'fill this box with as many pictures as humanly possible' option, but i was seriously considering doing the 'up to 1,000 photos for $49.95' one. since 98% of our stuff is old printed pictures.
was the quality alright? was the shipping time reasonable? i just like to have all the facts before i go and spend money. and send irreplaceable photos in the mail. know what i mean?

Yup I used the service a lil while ago, back in February. I did the one where they send you a prepaid box and I got that within 3 days. Turned around from when I shipped the box back out to them, to when I had it back wtih my pictures, was 1 week! Honestly it was fantastic. If I didn't like it I wouldn't be sending out another box! Lol!
Here are some pictures to show you the quality.

Oh and when you send it you can do the delivery confirmation/track shipping option through the post office. I'm not sure if they automatically do that when they send back the one you send in your own box or not.

Wow their quality is great Col! I think I have my stepmom talked into getting one of the "stuff the box as full as you can" boxes and having all our old photos scanned in. Now to just find the time to get over there and sit down together and go through all those tubs of photos she has up in her closet!

It's definitely time consuming Shawna, but it's totally worth it :)
Like I said, next weekend I'm starting on box #2! Lol!

If you have 4x6 photos, definitely check this special offer out
http://scanmyphotos.com/orderformfree.html
They will do 1000 of them for just the shipping!
I only had a couple hundred of 4x6's. Most of mine are smaller :(

Lizzy the company is scanmyphotos. The send your own box for $49.95 has a limit of 1,000 photos. The big box can fit an average of 1,600, but you can definitely really pack it. Ali Edwards crammed 2,200 in hers I believe.
Nonnie the turn around is about a week, and they send you a dvd with all the scanned images on it. You can also order extra dvd's if you want.
